Question in regards to billing............ Very concern!!!!
I signed up for a family plan about a week ago ($80 for the first line and $9.99 for the second line - 1400 min and no extra services) and I just received two individual letters (one for each line!) confirming my service, contract, and MY ESTIMATED FIRST MONTH TAXES, GOV'T FEES, and SURCHARGES. I have been very happy so far with the service BUT I AM REALLY CONCERNED about these fees with Verizon. It is telling me that my estimated first month taxes, fees, etc are $31.31 for the first line plus a $3.64 Verizon Surchage, plus a 2.41% FEderal Universal fee. For the second line (The $9.99) lines, I will be paying $9.30 plus $1.25 Verizon Surcharge plus the 2.41% Universal fee. I can not believe that I will be paying close to $50 in taxes for a ...

I'm on the same $89.99 plan and pay $115.00 a month. It will not be fifty bucks in taxes 🙂
Hope this helps if you have any other question just ask 🙂

Although I am sure you were shocked, Verizon's surcharges are one of the lowest in the industry and the taxes are federal, state, and county taxes and surcharges which all carriers have to charge at the percentage they are advised to by the different level of governments. (So to answer your question, no Verizon taxes are not higher, they are all exactly the same). Your first month will be higher because these percentages are based on the first full month in advance, the partial month, and your activation fees. Subsequent bills taxes and surcharges will be significantly lower.

I feel much better now 🙂 🙂 🙂

yeah..first bill is pro-rated from the day of activation to the first day of your b/c and then the normal month in a advance charges...primary line activation fee is $35 and the secondary lines are $25 (unless you have an employee discount that makes you exempt from those fees)..as far as taxes and surcharges---like the other guy said we do have some of the lowest surcharges in the industry, but taxes....take that up with Uncle Sam...estimated AC II FS 1400 $99.98 for 3 lines with taxes/surcharges (no extra usage charges) probably will run you around $110-113 p/mnth
