If you think that there is nothing wrong with the government wiretapping your phones, then you are naive. And if you think that it only should bother you if you are doing illegal things, you are even more naive.
Please tell me when, in the history of Earth, that a government could be trusted to not abuse power. It has never happened. Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. I believe that is how it goes. It's all well and good, to some of you, if they listen to your calls. But that's because you feel it's only for national security. Your comments are fairly well thought out, relativly articulate, and even somewhat eloquent. I'd say you did a good job except for one thing. Either you don't understand the program or your intentionally lying.
You referred to it as "wiretapping" as if calls are being recorded and/or eavesdropped on. This is not true and I'm sure you know it. The only data being asked for and provided by the phone companies is what numbers are calling what numbers. Your name and address is not even being given, just a database of what numbers called what other numbers.
If you think the program is wrong, make your arguments based on the facts. Don't lie to the good people in this forum and make them think their calls to grandma are being recorded...

you do make a very good point and i completely agree with you as well...and as for you new phone...they do have the power to listen in on ne call they want if they feel that they need to...but no that is prolly not what they are doin, or at least we all hope thats not the case....
