i realize that since we don't have a forum for verizon the wireless company that people are post here, in the VZW forum because they are concerned over verizon's cooperation with the NSA.

we do not condone verizon (the landline company's) actions, and we applaud the fact that you are concerned about the government ignore the laws and regulations set up to protect your privacy, however this is the forum for verizon wireless.

verizon wireless did not participate in the NSA's call logging program. they explicitly stated that this morning. please move all further discussion of this to the lounge.

If you don't want these discussions, remove them. I will not start threads on this topic but will respond to the lies being posted.

In addition, as the official voice of this forum, you should stay neutral. Statements such as:

"we applaud the fact that you are concerned about the government ignore the laws and regulations set up to protect your privacy"

Besides being atrocious English is very one sided. There were no laws ignored.

IF YOU DON"T WANT THE POLITICAL THREADS, REMOVE THEM. WHEN YOU REFER TO THE POLITICAL THREDS, DO IT IN A NEUTRAL MANNER!!!!!!!

Here is an excerpt from the Article. Apparantly these Cheerleaders that work for Verizon Wireless don't know how to read. KEY WORDS: CELLPHONES AND LAND LINES

Specter said he would call executives from AT&T, Verizon and BellSouth — the companies that supplied to the NSA their records on cellphone and land-line calls made from millions of homes, businesses and government offices — "to find out exactly what is going on."

To add to this as well..

The companies that were asked for phone records and what were AT&T, Verizon, and BellSouth correct...

Why is there no mention of Sprint, Nextel, T-Mobile, US Cellular?? These are true wireless companies just like Cingular and VZW.

Yes they may be listed under SBC/BellSouth/AT&T (Cingular) or Verizon (VZW)..but not as a company...

Justremember that when complying with federal law as companies have done decades to over a century, a protocol has been set to do such a thing. Te process outlined in the NSA discussion has been used well before Verizon was a twinkle in anyones eye. The discussion is over something that had been accpeted procatice for a very long time and something the citizenry of previous years did decry.

You give the government the ability to track you via an SSN, pay them taxes, give them detailed information every time you go to the DMV but you become concerned when they want to look at who you might have talked too.

It may be infringing on perceived privacy but this is something that you have given away in many other ways.
