E815 as a PHONE not V-Cast

Other than Motorola's old flimsy charging connector, is there any reason NOT to own a E815 for use as a PHONE? I have no interest in listening to music, bluetooth or watching TV with a magnifying glass. No V-Cast thank you. I'm just looking for a flip with good RF, long lasting battery, large color display and infrequent camera use.

Recommendations will be appreciated.

it ia nice phone, make sure you push the button on the charger when you unplug it, that is the only real concern.

I just upgraded to the e815 2 weeks ago from a Samsung a670. I have nothing but great things to say about it. My girlfriend has an LG 3300 and I have been looking at her signal strength compared to mine in crappy areas around my house. My 3815 always beats it out. The voice quality is one of the best I have heard as well. The only thing I am not used to yet is the size. It's the biggest phone I have ever had. Kinda feels like I have my Startac all over again 😛 JK

All in all it really is a nice phone. The only thing comparable IMO is the LG8100. But that phone is better for the VCAST stuff. Something I didn't want or need either.

Hope this helps!

I have an 815, but I don't live in an area that has V-Cast. It's an awesome phone. You should also check out the V325. It uses a different charging port that probably won't go bad on you. The V325 doesn't have bluetooth or a megapixel camera or video, but the phone function is really good.

I appreciate your comments folks. They confirmed my research and gut feelings.

I picked up the E815 tonight. Lots to read, but so far so good. At least it has the non-red Motorola user interface. I like that. Thank you.

the E815 is the BEST phone ever says PC Mag columnist when reveiwing the new Q phone:

Phone sound quality is just plain awesome. It *is* a little treblier than the E815 but it's up in the very top rank of phones. It's extremely difficult to compete with the E815, which is Best Verizon Phone Ever. But the Q is damn good.

I own the E815 and nothing compares to it as far as sound quality and reception goes. It may have a dated design. But its a workhorse and have tested almost every other VZW phone under the sun. Nothing else comes close.

I love this phone so far. It is VERY customizable and I've got most features where and how I like them... with NO RED BARS.

The final feature that I'd like to customize is the ability to upload and download my images, Outlook files and an occasional ringtone between my E815 and my PC directly. I've read on HoFo, Nuclear and other sites that this can be done by an OBEX modification using a cable and software.

Has anyone here done this? If so, please share your opinions.
