What happen to "FREE SPEECH" ?????????????

Scandal

Jul 16, 2004, 5:44 PM
Sometime last night(thursday) a person z1 made a comment, and even he said, the "moderator" would most likely "kill" his thread. And I see today what he said is no longer on here.
So it seems like if you disagree with what everyone thinks, censorship kicks in?
Since when is phonescoop and Verizon part of the cold war theology?
I am disappointed with this website and Mr. Rich A. Brome.

It's Rich's site. He can do what he wants to.

Maybe Richard A. Brome doesn't like idiots? This IS his website, you know.

And what if he is, so am I, I don't feel that it should have been takin of, it was actually quite humerous if you ask me...there are also some term and conditions to this website, maybe you should read them, cause if you are in violation the post can be removed...

Also note: Freedom of Speech keeps the government from intervening on your right to say your mind. It doesn't stop a private party from stopping you from saying what you have to say on his or her forum. Who ever this person was still has the right to say what ever he or she wants, but on his or her own forum if the person who owns this one don't want it here.

Aside: I have no idea what was posted and then removed, just my 2-cents I like to throw out there when ever someone try to pull "freedom of speech"

Well Scandal, I asked the moderator to remove the post. As previously mentioned this is not the steps of a court house, but rather a privately owned site. When someone registers to post here, there are rules of engagement, and understandings everyone agrees to. I felt "Z1" violated those understandings and I asked the moderator to examine that post for removal. Unprofessional / antagonizing conduct has no place, obviously those "powers to be" agreed with my request. By the way my name was not on the list either. I hope Z1 finds a different place to grind it's ax. 🤣 👿

Free speech is constitutionally protected in public, this is not public. There is also a reasonable right that others have to not be subjected to offensive speech. On a privately owned forum it is to be expected to have your posts removed if they are deemed to be offensive. Go into WalMart and start shouting obscenities at the top of your lungs and see how long it is before you are standing either on the street or in a jail cell. Come into my house and be offensive and I will remove you. America is not a free for all like some would like it to be.

you go to prison for yelling FIRE in a crowded public place, so there are limits to your freedom. privately owned places are not subject to your "public" freedoms. I personally wish that Rich had left the post up there. I even said so in my response; but then, rich would have to leave my response to the gonad up as well. See, some of the tech minded(and not so tech minded) individuals like to talk ALOT of shop on this forum. Comparing technologies, trashing the competetion. I personally like the debating. It MAKES PEOPLE LEARN because they have to back up their trash talk when someone who knows their stuff just called them on their BS. The only thing that gets me upset is when someone is just lying or doesn't have a clue WTF they are talking...

I do NOT hate anyone nor am I jealous of those who are on here.
I do have a brain, I do use to my advantage.
But as I looked at some of the past threads about my post, the phonescoop "11" proved my point.
You don't have to be smart to post here, you have to beable to type.
And yes, I'm sure once "again" the powers that be, will once again remove my thread. thus proving once again, your post can only stay on here if you agree to argue who's better GSM or CDMA. Who really cares? If you get a signal and can make a call, THAT IS WHAT REALLY MATTERS! Not bluetooth, kps, etc....
Go ahead Rich remove this thread, and you'll prove my point, that this is a very bias website.
No hate involved, just facts.

How is it bias.

Is it bias in the sense that negatively speaking about people is not allowed? However, you can correct people's post, and if you want too make a little fun of it. If you want to bash people go to yahoo chat.

Yes, their is a lot of misinformation out their and on this webiste, but that's bound to happen when you put a bunch of people in one place, no matter how you plan it. I think Rich is currently in the process of requiring a prerequisite test about the wireless industry before becoming a memeber.

That's the whole purposes of forums to get the correct information; there will be some wrong info given but it will iron itself out given time.

I initially came to this forum because I was informed it was not biased toward any Carrier or censored. A forum is only as good as it's keeper. just like a newspaper. Credibility is highest when people can express opinions as fact and debate such. Credibility is only assigned to those and by those who read numerous posts by a particular member.

All the information presented is derived from somewhere else and personal experience which may or may not contain an inherent bias. I find some members credible and some not based on the tenor of the posts and information presented which either agrees or disagrees with information I may have gained from various sources themselves possibly being biased.

Personal attack is a part of any forum wi...

Well I wouldn't mind if in said post he presented facts...instead he just started talkin smack about people...there was nothing to debate...still I have seen no proof that he even has any interest in the cellular industry...he just likes to bash the 11 on here that actually give a damn about their job and love what they do, and also love to share the information that they have learned with other curious parties

I guess what I'm saying is rather than delete certain posts. The member should be banned for offensive behavior that in the moderator's mind and it being his forum does not offer anything worthwhile. Not a single post. I do not respect froums who;s moderator has a ploicy of deleting posts. I would rather they just ban the whole person.
