New phone decision--Vx9800??? or 9900?

I need a new phone, as I have been living with a crappy 710 for too long. The V is what I am test driving now, but I haven't decided if I love it or not. Does anyone know when the 9900 might come out, if at all? Is there another candy bar style phone coming out? I want a good phone first and foremost, so that matters a lot. Am I wrong to try and go with the non-flip-- in other words, look at the new 8300 or something else?

Sorry for all the questions, but I have to decide soon and I am at a loss. The V might be the answer, but I am worried about it being obsolete in a few months.

Please help if you can.

Thanks

I was talking to the LG rep the other day, and they did say that the upgrade to the 9800 is being worked on. Only problem is, she also said that it won't be out till later this year, or early next year.

As for nonflip phones... I think Nokia is coming out with a couple in the up and coming months. Have you taken a look at the new slider by Nokia?

No matter what you buy it will be obsolete in a few months.

I was holding on for a bar style phone too. I was the victim of one of those flawed Samsungs that broke at the flip and since decided that the fewer moving parts my phone has the better.

Verizon is supposed to be releasing the Nokia 6265 fairly soon but I can't get any info on when. This phone has gotten pretty good reviews- the camera is rockin' but the software is slow. Also, it's not even a true bar phone- more of a slide style. If you're looking for something like the SLVR, I'd bet you'll be waiting until Christmas or so.

Verizon is not very kind to those of us who prefer bar phones. I've decided to just break down and buy the 8300. I haven't read a bad revi...

I don't think I like the slider Nokia. I guess it comes down to whether the 9800 is that good enough of a phone to not wait until something else comes along. It sounds as though I will be waiting until X-mas with the rate Verizon is releasing these days. Any opinions on the value of the LG versus waiting? Any ideas on the future Nokias that are talked about?

Thanks

I have the 9800 and love it. In fact, I had a crappy Moto 710 prior to going to the 9800 and have even been able to use my phone in a conference in the basement of a Holiday Inn when everyone else around me with Verizon had no or limited service. (it was a corporate VZ meeting) My 710 would not work at all there.

I would say just stick with your 9800. There is no information about the 9900, and from the limited information that is available, it looks exactly the same as the 9800. Not many people have the 9800 as it is, so you might as well just keep it. As often as Verizon releases new technology, your V will be good for another 5 years.

I had heard that the 9900 would be slimmer. Don't a lot of people have the 9800?

So, I'll put it out there then--9800 or 8300?

Thanks for your replies everyone--I hate these decisions! 😕

Depends on what you want in a phone.

The Slvr is coming out for Verizon this summer.

I'm with you in terms of wanting to switch to a candybar style phone. This might be an option for me, and hopefully its better-quality than the Razr flip.
