Family Plan 700 Minutes
About to purchase a couple LG 8300 and begin a two year Verizon contract........
The Family Plan 700 minutes for $69.99: I know that it includes free minutes when you speak with another Verizon phone - does it also include free roaming anywhere in the USA, i.e. if I take a plan out in Las Vegas and travel to Los Angeles or New York - are the calls that I make in those cities (or any other major city) included within the 700 anytime minutes?

yep no roaming, yes it will come off the 700 minutes unless you are talking with another IN user/family member, or nights and weekends. you are g2g enjoy your phones. just a suggestion, if it was me i would pay the extra 20 bucks a month and jump up to the 89.99 plan for Twice the minutes, it really worth another 20 for the twice the minutes imo. that is the plan I'm on and never have to wonder if I'm goin over. I don't know if you consider it, just wanted to point it out. Enjoy 🙂

We did consider going to the next higher plan (1400 minutes) but while I currently don't have a phone and my wife on Cingular was averaging 400 (anytime) minutes - we figured 700 should be sufficient because if we speak to each other and/or speak to both of our sisters (both on Verizon) then those minutes are free. I would imagine if we do start going over then we could elevate to the next higher plan.

I always tell people that it's easier to start high and step down than it is to start low and step up. If you have 700 minutes, and you use 800 in your first month, you're going to have a hefty bill. But if you're on 1400 and you only use 500 minutes, you can step down without a hefty bill. If your wife is using 400 minutes on her own, it seems to me like it would be a good idea to go at least a month on the 1400 minute plan.

Let us know how you like verizon and the 8300 🙂 thats cool why pay more when you don't have to I just like the freedom of having plenty. to be honest i seldom get close to 700, but during Christmas, or certain months i get close to my 1400, but like you said you can always up it later. have a good night 🙂

Actually I am in Vegas - so it's still afternoon.
By the way, I was in the foreign service and served at Embassies around the world - protected day and night by the Marines. Of course at each embassy was a Gunny in charge of those marines. Did you ever serve at any embassies?

There is no roaming charge unless you are off the beaten-track and I presume off of the Verizon Network - so how do you know when you'll be charged extra and when you won't (since we're waiting for our 8300s and haven't used them yet - perhaps it will be obvious once we begin using the phones - but if it isn't obvious perhaps someone can respond)?

On AC II, any area that would incur roaming charges on AC I, will be no service, because Verizon doesn't have roaming agreements worked out for those areas. there is no roaming on the 700 min family share plan as long as you are in the united states you are good.

WAIT! Let me qualify that statement... As long as you are inside the United States (all 50 and Puerto Rico) and you CAN make a call and you are calling someone inside the United States (all 50 and Puerto Rico).. Please keep in mind that Canada and Mexico are not covered by this plan and if you happen to be anywhere where you could pick up a tower in either one of those countries you are subject to international roaming charges..

Say what? Are you saying that if you are roaming during nights and weekends or Mobile to Mobile (IN) then you don't pay roaming charges? If that is what you are saying you are WRONG. Dead wrong and could possibly be killed by some customers if you told them this before they went on vacation.
