Verizon customer needs new phone. Best strategy?

My contract is past its expiration date, I don't use many minutes (I really only need my phone to be available for the nanny) and I'd like to keep my current Verizon service, but I need a new phone. What's the best way to get a good price? I'm thinking about going with the Moto E815 based on what I've read here. How do I avoid having to pay full retail?

If you're up for upgrade you can use the extra $100 bucks added to the 2 year activition price for the E815 and be able to get it free. You can also completely reconfigure your minutes and plan so you can basically do whatever you want to your plan and get a free phone.

I forgot to mention for the same price you can also get the new LG VX-8300. In my opinion its a superior phone.

My husband's LG doesn't work in our high rise at all. Cingular. Is it the service or the phone?

Could be either. Generally, in reception Motos are better but my friend and I have almost identical reception and he has the 815 i have the 8300. Its a toss up. I'd personally go to a store and check both out. Also, the 8300 has a great speakerphone. It's amazing.

Yep I concur; my e815 and 8300 get identical service in my area, but the 8300 Sounds waaaaaay better!!!. The speaker phone is amazing, never heard anything so good. 🙂

Verizon will throw in the phone? I don't follow you on "the extra hundred bucks added to the 2 year activation price?" That's a fee to sign up for more of the same service?

Nooooooooo... if you made your plan about two years ago, they have this promotion where if you sign up for another two years after 22 months or longer you can get an additional $100 off of your new phone. The easiest way to check this would go to the online site or store and see if your eligible for an upgrade.
