My wife and I have 2 day old 8300s. We live in a strong signal area. We always got maximum signal bars with our 3200s. My wife's 8300 has been showing maximum signal bars since we got the them. Mine, however, showed maximum (4) bars when I first started it up after charging it 2 days ago, but then fell to 2 or 1 bars after a couple of hours of on time. Hers continued to show 4 bars and the old 3200s both would show maximum bars. When mine went to 1 bar, it stopped transmitting to Mobile Web. I took the battery out the next morning and it stayed at 4 bars the entire day. I took it in to the Verizon store and complained, but the tech said that I could not get a replacement since the phone was working fine in the store. This morning I ...

That is a tuff one. It is true they have to be able to recreate the defect before they can just give you a new one. If it is truly defective you have a 1 year warranty. So if it continues to be a problem or get worse you will have a whole year that they can exchange it for you. You should also add mobile insurance to cover the handset for the second year after the warranty is over. You must add it within 15 days of your upgrade so hurry.

duplicating the problem or not, if its within the 15 days they should take it back and exchange it for a brand new one.

WRONG! You can't just walk into a store and say I want a new one within the 15 days. If you don't like it you can exchange it for a different model. If you like the one you have and it is found to truly be defective then it would be swapped out for a new phone not a FRU of that same model. Read the return exchange policy printed on the bottom of the receipt.

Dude are you retarded??? If you don't like the phone for ANY reason (save physical damage) within the 15 days you can take it back no questions asked!! I'm not going to tell someone who buys a phone and just doesn't like it that they have to stay with that phone. I don't care if there is anything wrong with it. Its new for new. Anyway I'm re-reading your post and I don't remember saying anything about a FRU. I said duplicate the problem or not you get a new phone within 15 days (provided there is no damage to the original phone)

call tech support from your house while you are experiencing the problem. 1-800-922-0204 option 3 then option 1.

Also, you are within the 15 day worry free gaurantee...take them up on it!

As far as the other posted that avoided the answer and instead responds with, "add the insurance" which had absolutely NOTHING to do with your issue...you need to listen to people...

Just an update - it was varying between 1 and 3 bars this morning at home, so I ran the 1/4 mile to the store as soon as they opened. When I got there I only had 1 bar outside the store. They have a repeater in the store and I still only had 1 bar inside. I showed it to the tech with 1 bar signal, so he had no choice but to exchange it. It is now charging at home. I will turn it on after it is fully charged and make sure that this one is working correctly. Thanks for the responses.

Glad to hear you got it resolved.

Just a note. I cycle and ride horses in several areas, some hilly and mountainous. I know certain areas that will 100% of the time cause a disconnect rather than a site handoff. I also know where the signal is very weak.
I can just take a phone through one of these areas and tell if the signal strength meter is just bogus or if the sensitivity is bad.
Short of that, what you did was perfect.

Now I'd like to figure out how to get the type size on VZW's UI to be a reasonable type size!!!!
