Passive Repeaters....

Hey guys, I need to know about passive repeaters, (no not the "Internal Antennas"). Im interested in wheather or not anybody has had any luck with them, the ones I am talking about have 2 sepearate parts, one part has a long antenna that sticks outside a window and the inside part is about an inch square with two little antennas that sticks directly inside the window.

The reason I am even carious if they work is I know that Passave Repeaters actually have some validity to the technology and my vendors sell several different types, different ones for different frequencies, which leads me to believe their might actually be a difference in them and might actually work.

Any experience would be appreciated, thanks.

Yes, and No. analogy for a passive antenna, take a cardboard box, ram a copper bar into it, heat one end of the copper bar, the heat will "transfer" to th einside of the box, slowly, that's the tower signal, now stick ice on the inside, and it'll eventuallt chill the outside end, that's your phone signal... Being passive the signal is still weaker on the inside...

These work best in something like an aluminium clad warehouse, bigass faraday cage, if you step outside you have full bars bur inside you have nil.

You put an antenna up on the roof and it gets a "hot" signal, it will push it down the cable and out the small antenna, just like poking a hole in the box. Same goes for your phone, now it's signal can travel up the wire an...

Thanks, got it now, does anybody have any experience with any antennas that actually boost reception? I know about the ones that are hard wired and the ones that plug directly into the back of your phone, those do indeed work, I am just basically looking for something to sell to people who live in a "fringe" area, that will actually help reception. I want something that really works and not just some gimmickey thing. Thanks for any advice you have gotten from personal experience.

i have had good luck with them in my area, best way to know if it will help your situation is easy, If your phone will work pretty well outside of your house but not inside then try one. I have sold a bunch to people in shady areas where they say their phone drops calls in the house or they have to go outside to use it, and most have said these greatly help. I basically carry those car antennas that mount on your car window and are about 18' tall, but many people have tried them on home windows with great results.
