Phone Suggestions?

I have had very bad luck with phones since switching to Verizon several years ago. I am considering the two year upgrade now that I'm on my 6th Moto v265.

I am looking for a small phone, with really great reception and call quality, speaker phone, and speaker-independent voice commands. I figure if I'm going to upgrade I may as well get a phone with the new VZ Navigator. That leaves me with the Moto Razr, the LG vx 8300, and the Samsung SCH-a930.

I don't like LG, though I know most people do. The Razr seems a bit flimsy and difficult to use because of its thinness. I've been told Samsung has much better battery life and is higher quality than the other two manufacturers.

Feedback, please? If I'm going to sign my life over for...

well I think it depends on where you live/travel to

I know that the 950 was terrible in marginal reception areas and I assume the 930 might have similar issues.

Why?

I hated the LG 4500. I had soooooo many problems with it. It was worse by far than my current Moto.

I've sold two Samsung a930s, both of them came back to me with a poor battery life complaint. Your best option is the LG VX8300. You're right on about the Motorola V265. That phone was junk.

I have the Motorola v325 and it's just OK. I drop a fair amount of calls and sometimes people have a hard time hearing me on it. It is no better than my previous Audiovox 8900, but not really any worse either. I am going to reactivate my 8900 until I can find a better replacement.

I would like to get a different phone but am not sure which one to get. Most important is reception and ability to hold onto a call. Analog would be nice for backup, but if Verizon is getting rid of analog soon then I guess it doesn't matter. One thing I like is to be able to see some sort of indicator for missed calls on the external screen...I don't care if I can see the number I just want to know that I have missed calls. And I like the external display to s...

So WHY oh why the LG? I've had terrible experiences with them.

More than 1 VZ cust. service rep and more than 1 VZ store rep have rec'd the Samsung. Aaaahhhh...confusion!

Well, no one seems to like the Razr so that makes it easier. 🙂

Anything coming I should wait for?

My wife and I both got new VX8300s and really like them. They are only 12 days old, so they haven't had much time to have a problem. They replaced 2 VX3200s that we had for 2 years. In that time, we never had a single problem with the 3200s. I know the 3200 is just a basic phone, but they have been very reliable. The Keyocera I had for the 2 years before that was also trouble free. Of course, I have never dropped a cell phone, so that may have something to do with the reliability. My wife dropped her 3200 twice, but it was in it's leather custom case and only fell about 3 feet.

Have you even felt the 930 in your hands yet? I feel like I can't squeeze it too hard or its going to break. So far, of all the choices that you've listed, the 8300 seems the most solid overall.

The LG 8300 is Verizon's best phone right now for so many reasons.

This is my first LG phone and I'm very impressed. Stereo Bluetooth,Stereo Speakers, megapixel camera w/ flash,EVDO,microSD memory,V Cast,VZ Navigator, mp3 support, new flash customizable user interface...

I'm telling you its a very good phone! IMO

However, if you'd like to wait a bit the Samsung a990 is said to be released soon... it bolsts a 3.2 megapixel camera with swivel display,EVDO,microSD, ETC.... looks very nice!
