AwpdsR

Jul 1, 2006, 3:23 PM
i had my vzw phone for 1 year but now i want a new one. i went to verizons website and clicked on "upgrade your phone" and i got a list of phones with pricing but when i clicked on "Select" it said the site was under construction. i went to a vzw store and they said i have to keep my current phone for another year before im allowed to get a new one.

can anyone explain this to me and/or tell me how i can get a new phone now?

also note i do not have New every two

You can get any phone you want right now but you have to pay full price for it. It can get pretty expensive unless you want a phone with basically no features.

you always aim for promotional price then! And you are not eligible for that, so its either stick with your old phone for another year, or eat the cost. Sorry if that sounds hostile. I just get tired of hearing this damn story ALL DAY LONG.

you can request for an early upgrade. they charge $20 i believe and you don't get the NE2 $100 credit. You get it for the 2 yr. price though and you sign a new contract beginning from the day you do the early upgrade.

VZW does have an early upgrade policy. IF your price plan is at least 49.99 or higher (for your specific mobile #, not in total if you are a family share)and has been for the past year, it has been a miniumum of exactly 12 months since your last discounted equipment, you are willing to forfeit your New Every Two for another 22 months (and everyone on a 2 year contract over 34.99 is enrolled), sign a new two year contract, and you pay a 20.00 processing fee (if in the northeast), THEN you may get the 2 year promotional pricing on a phone. However, all of these must be met with no exceptions to get it and it can not be taken on line because it is a special privilege that must be notated by customer service before you can take advantage of it.I...

When you 1st got your phone the pricing was contengent on a 2 yr contract renewal. but you can actually upgrd 22 months before the contract expires...other than that, i would say for you to suck it up and roll w/ the punches...try ebay if you really want a new phone for less than list

out of curiosity what model do you currently have? some phones can catch pretty penny on ebay and just throw that towards new phone. As far as retail goes call around, prices will differ from bestbuy, corp, and agent locations as much as 100 bucks on some models. I know Verizon had the razr at like 419 and we sold it for around 320 full pop. You can also send in eligible rebates on phones you buy full price, i do it all the time on ones i buy and they always honor it. So if you can get 100 bucks out of your old phone, get a razr for 320 you are now out of pocket 220, send in 50 dollar rebate and you are now at 170 for a razr with no contract. That is how I get my phones, i have not had a contract for years and i get new phones every 3-6 mont...
