Hey guys,

I currently have Cingular and was considering aout switching over.

What benefits would I get by switching over to Verizon because I'm pretty happy with my service, especially the rollover and the convenience of using my phone overseas.

Thanks,

First off everybody VZW has 181 MAJOR metro areas covered in terms of Broadband speeds "EVDO".

2. EDGE is 70-135 Kbps with burst 200Kbps; 1xRTT is 60-80 Kbps w/ burst 144Kbps.

3. UMTS/HSDPA is 400-700 Kbps, EVDO is 400-700 Kbps but BURST 2.0 Mbps (in 181 major cities)

4. Cingular Q4 2005 Churn 2.1% "turnover rate" Verizon Q4 2005 Churn - 1.2% - Most loyal customers in industry.

5. Cingular Cust. only get mob.-mob. with 39.99 plan or higher V...

why would you make a new post for this instead of just replying?

furthermore number 5 is incorrect. verizon only has m2m on plans of 39.99 aswell.

Their prepay plans have unlimited mobile to mobile.

THIS is correct, a prepay plan with verizon can end up being just 99 cents and 10 cents a min. So it could be just the 99 cents and if you called a verizon customer it would cost nothing the entire time.

I made a new post because the old one went on forever and nobody had the answer to the original question and if I posted it at the end of the new one than nobody would no there was a real answer telling both sides.

I think that the person who started that thread just wanted to start a flame war; and we all fell for it.
Notice how he just posted the thread but he never said anything after that? Hmmm makes me wonder.... ๐Ÿคจ

Wondering but still like to educate, hey if one is better than another fine, but either way I am not going to let people sit here and say cingular is better or verizon is better without having hard facts that are from the companies themsleves.

2- EDGE is slower than EVDO. However EDGE is available throught the network. If there's Cingular service; there's EDGE. Hence any Cingular EDGE device will be faster than a Verizon EVDO phone when compared side by side (in a non-EVDO area)
3- HSDPA is a smooth upgrade of UMTS. Allowing customer to keep connections while leaving an HSDPA area.
4- Cingular's churn rate was 1.8 Q1 06 from 2.1 of Q4 06. And it keeps getting lower and lower. (waiting for 2Q to prove this)
5- What? you're joking, right? Go Phone customer ALSO get M2M. On a side note, it is worth to mention that Vzw only wishes to have our pre-pay customer base.
6- We ALSO test our network, just because we don't show you a commercial on TV doesn't mean that we don't. ...

Do you honestly think that Verizon does not do the same kinds of software just a different name and do you think that verizon does not integrate this through out the network. Verizon Wireless has a record low of churn 1.18% in Q1 2006. To transfer from evdo to 1xrtt is just as seamless as the cingular transition you claim. What thirteen networks are you talking about you listed 5 and a forgotten 6th.

I only forgot two of them. I you paid att to my post, there's a number "2" right next to the network name. That number 2, kerwin7777; means that there's 2 networks being intagrated
1 blue and 1 orange.

What the hell is blue and orange. Let me know if you know the answer. One more thing if cingular has their edge everywhere what the hell is the G3 that they are taking forever to implement?

Blue = ATT
Orange = Cingular

If you didn't already know, Cingular has been integrating countless SEPERATE networks after it's acquisition of AT&T in late 2004.

Anxiovert is indeed correct in that there are 13 different networks amongst the two (formerly seperate) companies being integrated.

Verizon is going through absolutely NO integration. EVDO is an upgrade to 1xRTT...the work involved is nowhere near that of what Cingular has on their hands right now.

And the last two networks that Anxiovert couldn't recall were the UMTS/HSDPA networks that AT&T and Cingular had launched (however small they were) previous to the merge.

Thanks RUFF! I guess it's not necesary to mention those two networks, since those markets were the first ones to have 3G.

I never said that Vzw doesnt test its network. All carriers do. All I said was that Cingular also tests its network and since there's also a network integration going on; we probably are testing more than Vzw.

Look all I am doing is telling what I know I am not taking sides, I just think that every fact needs to be displayed not just the facts from the cingular guy who wants everybody to know how great cingular is, and not just the facts from VZW people who love Verizon. Tell the facts and the people will decide for themselves who is better and if you look at the numbers that each company has than you would know that V and C are the top so they are both good, and pretty close to being the same except for some minor differences and maybe the person you get when you go to a store or call customer service.
