Have an extra v3m (unopened)

I have a question about a recently purchased phone. I purchased a new v3m for like $127 with tax, when I received it, I started thinking maybe I should just keep my v3c instead since its so similar...

but rather than sending it back, I noticed these phones brand new on ebay are selling for $250-300....so i figured why the hell shouldnt I do that instead of returning it for $127, right?

is there anything wrong with that? If I sell this brand new phone to someone else they can just call and have the ESN from the phone hooked up and they are good to go, right?

thanks in advance for the helpful info!

right, but VZW still pays $3XX for the phone from motorola, so if you don't activate it they lose money and complain...

but how could they possibly charge him 250 for it and get away with it? they cant dictate what he does with his own phone that was purchased using their NE2 program

yes, but for the same reasons you can't go into a VZW store and get a free phone for free without a contract and service on it... it's $179.99 or more otherwise...

I understand that but what does that have to do with the 250 you said they would charge him? He must have fulfilled a two year contract and he is signing up again and paid set price for phone. I'm not understanding how they could possibly get away with charging him

In order for the customer to not be chraged the full retail price he/she must first activate that phone to the cellular number it was purchased for. The reason why is because activation initates the contract. Once it has been activated the contract has been placed on that number then he/she can do an ESN change to reactivate the old handset.

There is unfornutaley no way Verizon Wireless is going to give a phone at a deep discount with no contract. People have tried scheming and those loopholes have knotted.

This is correct if you bought it online and do not activate it they will charge but if you do activate it and than change back to the old phone than you can sell the Razr v3m. But than why would you upgrade and not have a new phone, would you rather have the extra money you could make off of ebay and wait another 2 years for a new phone or pay new phone pricing (retail) when you decide to get a new phone a year from now?

vzw doesnt pay 300.00 for phones from moto. they get them at wholesale prices. and for poster not activating it on their line. most vzw can charge is the difference between what they ordered for and full retail.which is 259.99 for the v3m phone right know.which would be maybe 190.00. but all the poster needs to do is activate phone and then reactivate old phone.

You need to leave it active past midnight of the day you activated it from what I understand.

thanks for all the replies.

basically, I got this phone at this price through the v710 settlement website. The v710s were falsely advertised and taken off the shelves, people complained about it and verizon agreed to allow a free swap, wave early termination fee, or get reimbursed for original price paid.

so when I went to this v710 settlement swap site, I was able to purchase this phone for $119 with a 1 yr contract (which will be reimbursed when I send my v710 in).

In between all that mess I picked up a v3c, and am happy with it and considering keeping it and selling the v3m.

so I guess I should activate the v3m, keep it in the plastic, then after I activate it just reactivate my v3c? This way I dont get that ugly bill in t...

It appears that you received that ph. fair and square YOU DO NOT NEED to activate it or anything simply send your v710 in and don't worry about it THEY ARE NOT GOING TO CHARGE YOU for the v3m list it on ebay or do whatever you want with it it's your ph!

yes, its possibly true that you can sell it with out activating it first. Just keep in mind that calling in with the order and location # of the order will take just a couple of minutes. I'd say its better to be safe then sorry, so just call to activate your new phone then reactivae ur old one.
