Plan Change - Can This Be Done ??

dumbfounded

Hey everyone...I have a question and I would like to know my options...

My wife and I have a family share plan. Her part of the contract (primary)ends next week while I still have 1 year left(secondary) on my 2 year contract because I had to replace my phone 1 year into out joint contract. Replacing my phone because it fell into the pool "extended" my contract 2 years.

My wife wishes to get a individual plan now. Will she be able to ? Also, if she can and does, can I sign a new 2 year individual plan also or will I have to abide by my current contract ? If so, what will my my cost be without my wife ? I hope everyone understands the question ...

You would have to do what is called an AOL (Assumption of Liability). You would both have to sign new 2yr contracts to go onto 2 seperate Single Lines. Your phones would still be able to be upgraded at the same time they were eligible under your old contracts. At that time, you would again have to sign new contracts. Just keep in mind when new contracts are signed, the old ones become null and void.

i'm not sure if he wants an AOL, he just said individual plans

an AOL gives you 2 seperate accounts, seperate bills, one in your name one in hers, now you would have to run a credit check and maybe pay a deposit like a new activation(i think)

you can have 2 lines on the same acct, same bill, and under one name but not sharing mins, both lines will ger new 2yr contracts and the upgrade availability will stay the same

If they want 2 seperate lines on the same acct then no AOL would be needed, just plan changes. If they want 2 seperate acct (one in his name, one in hers) then an AOL would be the way to go.

It really doesn't matter which way to go, I guess 2 separate lines on 1 account would be fine. My question though, would I still have the option of signing another 2 year (individual) and obtaining promotional pricing for a new phone/plan ? Remember, I'm only 1 year into a 2 year agreement now ....Thanks for your help !!

No, sorry. You would be signing a new "service agreement". Its kinda like your phone and your plan are on seperate contracts. Your upgrade eligibilty dates will stay the same, BUT...her new every two date will get pushed back till the end of her new contract. And you will be assigned a NE2 date (depending on which rate plan you change to)
