Using a phone that has EVDO support, can you browse the web at broadband speeds even with the $5/month web access or is that only with Vcast $15/month service?

Yeah, provided you're in a BroadbanAccess area. No extra charge for it. VCAST just gives you video content and unlimited data. The speed is something everyone can use.

Were you talking about using the world wide web or the web browser on the phone? BTW, EVDO is the name of the highspeed network. The "broadband" is if you are tethering your phone as a modem (unlikely as their are few phones that can do this) or are using a PC card in your laptop. VCAST is a marketing term for downloading video clips/3-D games/etc. HOWEVER, if you have the 5.00 mobile web feature...that uses airtime to browse the web based items using the phone's WAP browser (not the world wide web). That can be accessed in the National Access market or the EVDO market. It does operate much quicker on the EVDO market. If you pay the 15.00 for VCAST...that includes the Mobile Web and the airtime for using this feature.

Talking about using my phone, which I guess is the EVDO? I know that VCAST is not available in my area (Tucson, AZ), so I gather EDVO is not?

Thanks

Ev-DO is the type of technology the network uses. "BroadbandAccess" isn't relegated to strictly tethering. It's what VZW calls its high speed data network. VCAST uses the BroadbandAccess network so if VCAST isn't available, the high speed network, or "BroadbandAccess" network isn't available either. At least not yet, anyway. They're testing it in Tucson, though and that's usually a sign that they plan to roll it out in the area soon. They did the same thing with Salt Lake City before it got Ev-DO up there.

EVDO is what the network is called...

Broadband Access is the use of the EVDO network for wireless internet. PER VZW's WEBSITE!

VCAST is the term for the package that gives the mobile web/access to mobile web/etc...

So in other words, VCAST uses the EVDO network...Broadband uses the EVDO network. Yes, you have to have the EVDO for either service to work.

I just meant using the WAP browser at a higher speed. I take it from what you said that as long as im in an area with EVDO coverage, the WAP will load much faster. And only pay for Vcast if i have any interest in downloading video clips or games.
