Ok, i realize you must have a vcast music phone to get the songs on your phone, that one is a no brainer, but my question is about the pc. If I am a verizon customer and do not have a vcast phone can i still download media 10 and download a song from pc and have it billed to verizon. This way i could pay .99 for song and play it on pc or burn on cd, could care less about putting it on phone. I thought this was possible but have had 2 different customer care reps tell me no? Back during training I was told the pc side doesn't really care what phone you have. Well I tried to download a song, and blam i get an error, called verizon and they keep telling me i have to upgrade phone to download song to pc, i even had tech support tell me this. Is ...

Not really that suprising....unless a person is willing to seek out the knowledge at Verizon, no one is going to offer it. Atleast thats the case in my store. If i had to rate it I would say 90 percent of what I know about my job are things I've learned by obtaining the knowledge on my own. 10 percent I would chalk up to training.

I'm closer to 95/5... Most of what I learned I learned because I DID it, and then I tell everyone else about it... The phone rings 20 or 30 times a day from other kiosk people asking me "how do you do this?" "can this customer do X" "is this even possible" etc... Feels good, too bad I'm not management.

That's not really true. You can't train for everything. You have to train for the customers who call because their phone is not registering while roaming, new coverage issues and broken phones. That is the majority of needs. You can't train for the weird stuff such as what started this thread. It's really strange that a carrier would be judged from it inability to help a customer do something that most other customers could care less about. You can't solve all problems and the expectation that this should be the case is not practical.

The problem with 'net foru...

what is that strange abouting calling and asking about a service they have spent billions in developing and advertising??? I didn't expect much when i called, but come on, as a customer care rep you should at leaste know how vcast music works, I had one rep tell me i could only download songs if i had a vcast pack and vcast phone and they were 1.99 a song. Another rep told me i could get them from pc, but i had to have a vcast phone to purchase them, and told me you can't burn a cd with downloaded music. Then when i was transfered to tech support, they told me i couldn't buy vcast music from pc with the number i registered with because my vcast phone was on the other number? I knew they were all wrong,.... becasue of this forum? NO!!!!! Beca...

Do you expect that the neighborhood muffler shop could install a set of oversized camshafts? Maybe, maybe not. However, no one would expect it nor should they. To that end, if you call Verizon and ask "Hey, I want to do something with my phone that most people don't know how to do or even want to do and I didn't find in my owners manual, can you help me?" and they say "No"..I don't think acting surprised and blaming the carrier is the way to go.

They are focused on getting a phone that is stuck on roam for the guy who is v

But thats my point exactly. I know they don't have the time to teach us every little thing. I'm not asking that. And in this case, what I said was true! Some of us who work in the wireless industry actually take the time to learn these "uncommon issues" but there are some that are just there for the paycheck. They don't care to go beyond what is offered in training. And that is precisly what I was talking about. Unless you want to know more, nobody is going to offer you more.

but that is the point, training was offered and it should be common knowledge that you can download vcast music to the pc using windows media 10(the same software sold by verizon in essentials pack) I was expecting a miracle, but come on, every rep at verizon should know that you can download a song to the pc through vcast music for .99. It is in the brochure, it was in the training, it is in infomanager and infocenter, it is advertised day and night on radio and television, and then i have reps telling me i can only download music through my phone(1 of them) at a 1.99 and no computer download service was offered and another telling me i can only download to the pc if i have a vcast $15 package on my account. Then tech support saying i must ...
