Verizon Chocolate Test Page

Check out this sweetness--saw this link over at HowardsForums, a verizon wireless test page for advertising the chocolate! 😛 😛 😛

Couple interesting details: First you can clearly see a MicroSD card slot added on the side, so that's added as suspected.

Second the date on this phone is Wed, Aug. 16th, WELL before the october date and seeming much more in line with the info on this site, which makes me VERY excited.

Third, there is some concern over at HOFO that the red bars signal that this doesn't have the FlashUI of 8300, but I'm optimistic that it's just the default and FlashUI will be there.

Fourth, I've been reading this forum for a while but this is my first post, so HI ALL 😛 😛

VX8500 also features a new version of the Verizon interface with on-screen menus for the side keys. We can only guess what this means but I'm sure it won't just be red bars

My cents say I still doubt the phone is coming out on a date sprawled on the phone image at verizon.com. By how un-predictable Verizon is, its nearly impossible for them to set an exact date for a phone to launch months (okay, weeks) away. That's a pretty big promise--and does anyone remember their last upcoming slider, the Nokia 6265? At least this one is COMING OUT, for real!

What's the possible price range, will it be similar to the new Samsung?

Hard to say. It doesn't have as many features as the Samsung, but the touch screen will cost more to produce than normal buttons. I don't know if it will be as much as the 990, but it will be up there.

buddy of mine got to play with it. Says its a prety solid feeling phone, unlike some other sliders, but the buttons on the face are very sensative, so you end up going through your menu with your cheek as you make a call. As far as price, don't expect a990 pricing. Expect 8300 pricing. They want this phone in every kids pocket come school time.

Thanks for the nice info, glad to hear it feels "solid"; that is a very important factor for me. 😁

Rumor on HoFo that a Verizon guy said he saw on infomanager that the phone is set for an early online release (as we've seen with some other vzw phones) on July 31st. I guess we'll know for sure about the pricing soon enough, but what you're sa...
