Verizon and 7pm evenings???

Pikasauce

Jul 26, 2004, 3:50 PM
I have been a long time verizon and have recently thought about switching to ATT because they offer more minutes for cheaper and their evenings start at 7pm, does anyone know when or if verizon will move their's down from 9pm. This is really a huge deal for me and I don't want to leave VZW but I may have to.

Thanks

At this particular period of time nothing has been communicated as to that issue...we will be starting a new promotional period as of 8/2/04 that would be the best time to check back...hope this helps!

Not sure, we might. But right now, no. With other carriers it's $8 extra a month. You could just up your rate plan $5 and get more minutes to cover 7-9 and you wouldn't need to pay the $8 more with another carrier.

This is copied from a previous reply to another thread that had the same subject.

Night & Weekend Minutes - Nights starting at 7 p.m.
Start your Night Minutes two hours earlier, at 7 p.m. every weekday! With this upgrade and a two-year Sprint PCS Advantage Agreement, Night & Weekend Minutes can be used Mon.-Thurs. from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. and Fri. 7 p.m. to Mon. 7 a.m. $7

From Sprint's website. I was wrong. But it's not $5, it's $7 as you see here.

So it's $7 with Cingular and Sprint.

For ATTWS nights and weekends:

For plans up to $59.99 with two-year agreement, 9:00 p.m.-5:59 a.m. Monday-Friday; and Friday 9:00 pm.-Monday 5:59 a.m. For plans $59.99 and above, 7:00 p.m.-5:59 a...

If early N/W are that important to you then you may have to switch. But beware of the fine print, in my girlfriend's family's case they signed up for a plan w/sprint and because of plan stipulations were not eligible for the 7pm start time.

It's always possible that VZW will extend their n/w times, but I don't see it just yet (as a consumer that is).

no verizon will prolly never offer the 7pm nights again I work them and i'll tell you why. we did have years ago and all the teenagers would get on at 7 and tie up the lines therefore, the people who where still conducting business at this time couldnt use their phones cause the system was to overloaded. well people called and complained and they decided to get rid of it. thats why we will prolly never see it again

yeah but in that perspective if we did do it so long ago, then with the system updates that we have made since then it really shouldn't cause that big of a problem as it did before...that is if we were to start that back up again

Very true. The system now can hold alot more calls at once than it could a few years ago. During the New York Blackout, Verizon was working when Cingular wasn't. My friend called me from her mom's house in New York and her mom couldn't use her Cingular phone, but my friend was talking to me next to a candle.

Also when 9/11 happened Verizon Rolled in more towers in new york to help with the situation. We had so many calls at one time we had to bump up the network there very quickly.

I think if we offer it though, it will be on a plan that doesn't require an $8 a month feature, it will just be included on the plan. Then again that is just my opinion (for phonepimp)

again with the 8 dollars it is 7 dollars, not 7.99... have you ever seen a promo for 8 for us? More misinformation from Mr. 5 years in wireless.

BTW, try 12 years...then maybe you can understand.

Phonepimp and anybody else reading this thread and the replies you can start laughing now. Phonepimp u just made an ass of yourself. SPRINT IS $7! Talk about MISINFORMATION! Dude. again you bore me. When Cingular adds anything close to the customer base we add every quarter you have a legitimate case. Until then take your crap to the general forum and not to the Verizon forum where your comments are quickly forgotten. 😈

you don't seem to be forgetting them too quickly. Besides, what does it matter if one number is wrong. It's not like the guy works for Sprint now is it?

A lot has changed in the last 5 years, not to mention the last 12, I'm sure it's easy to mix a few things up now and again.

sheesh!

Its okay if her wants to argue semantics, disturbed. He just can't handle the fact that Cingular is uniquely positioned to take away VZW's last number 1...customer base.

Just about everything else they had a year ago is slipping away.

Hey...it's fine with me if Cingular can get on top. If I get the job I'm supposed to interview for this week (selling Cingular) I can add it to my sales pitch.

Until then I'll just promote the "Battle of the Pimps"

All these 'other' companies are switching to 7pm nights because they are desperate for customers and have a high churn rate with their existing customer base (net loss of customers). Verizon has been at 9pm almost 2 years now and they still add hundreds of thousands more customers than the other providers and have one of the lowest churn rates in the industry.

What does this tell us? Customers care more about network quality then promotions and plans.

I'm looking at the new codes and price plans for the 8/2 new promotions and there is no option for 7pm nights. I don't think verizon is going to do that for at least until the final quarter of this year if at all.

Hey, don't forget the free incoming calls. And about the long distance, the $.20 is for international long distance. Domestic long distance is free. In addition to that, VZW will PAY YOU $.05/min for any domestic calls you make within your area code.

We are also starting a $50.00 coverage guarentee. If you ever have a dropped call or no service anywhere in the world we will credit you $50.00/min for every minute you were without service.

Not to mention that all phones are free with only a 3 month contract agreement. If you sign a longer agreement we end up paying you to take the phone.
