My Razr is hot as hell!

😲

If I talk on it for more than 7 minutes the thing gets burning hot. What's going on here? I got the Razr when Verizon first started carrying it in case there was some sort of recall on them and I didn't realize it. The Razr gets so hot that it practically is burning my hand, and I keep thinking it's going to explode ala that Dell computer thing in China.

The heat seems to be coming from the back area (where the battery is?).

TIA for any advice.

Some more than others. It's a CDMA thing.

???? Not all their phones get hot. Its just the razr is an absolute pile of junk that deserves to thrown in the trash. For the getting hot part, its probably a software problem, the ultra crappy Moto battery, or its been swimming.

hasn't been swimming. I had the battery replaced, but it's still getting hot. Should I have it replaced again? If that doesn't work, should I switch it out for a totally different phone or as the previous poster said, do all cdma phones get hot?

you can try another replacement with the new batt and see what happens there. If that still doesnt do it, try another model from ebay.

Ive been CDMA all my life, and ive only noticed real hot phones after ive talked on it for hours, or its on the charger.

I wouldn't use it anymore if its getting that hot then there is something seriously wrong with it. Go visit a verizon tech asap.

Thanks I will do that tomorrow. Any idea why this is happening? Is it a common problem (besides it being motorola 🙄 )?

This does not just happen with Motorola. Many people including myself and my husband had problems with the Samsung A670 getting really hot. As well I had problems with the LG 4500 getting hot.

Hell, Kyocera had a recall because their phones were getting so hot that the battery would actually explode.

For some reason the phones do get warm when you talk.

I used to have the V70 they got warm. My E815 I don't remember if it got warm since I used the headset mostly.

I would definitely get the phone looked at by a tech. Just be ready they may tell you it is natural for the phone to get warm. I was told that once. But phone getting hot calls for a new phone.

Good luck!

Thanks for the advice everyone. Took my phone into the Verizon store today. The tech had it for an hour or so and then I was told that it got so hot that the phone itself down. (I think that answer was BS because they didn't want to transfer my pictures/games) Anyway, they gave me a new phone.

☹️

Been using my new one, and it's getting hot as well. Not as hot as the other one was getting though. Hopefully it doesn't get worse, or I will have to go back.

I have no idea what they did, they gave me a new phone (i know this because it still had the sticker on it). But I am not sure about the battery, any way for me to tell?

new sticker means nothing. All the replacement refirbs have stickers on them. If it was older than 30 days, you got a refirb and they used your old battery. Go back to the store and get the battery replaced (free replacement within 3 months of purchase)

Ok, am I missing something? The power turn on button is the red end button, just hold it down right? Now the phone they gave me yesterday refuses to turn on.

Try taking out the battery and putting it back in.

And obviously make sure it charged

Thanks! I actually ended up going to the store because for the life of me I couldn't figure out how to get the battery out (still don't know how on the razr). The tech popped the battery in there and I asked them to replace the battery to be on the safe side, which they did.

The tech said something to me about not charging it while the phone is on? Is this something I should actually do? My cell is my only phone, I don't really want it to be off while it's charging.

Don't you know that when a phone is reported lost the ESN is put into a "negative" file?
