Verizon outage ?
OK, I'm not trolling.. Everyone has had their share of outages. I have to admit for Verizon, in my market, it's almost unheard of. But -
The local daily paper had a story of a what appeared to be a major outage in the midwest. Any updates? what happended? anyone ??

Millions of Verizon Wireless customers in southeastern Michigan and throughout the Midwest were without service Friday night.
The outage occurred around 6:30 p.m., Verizon technicians said.
Customers in metro Detroit, and as far away as Iowa and Missouri were affected.
Officials were uncertain what caused the problem and when it would be fixed.
Verizon Wireless is the second-largest U.S. mobile-phone services provider. In 2003, it was the largest wireless phone company in Michigan with more than 1 million customers. Of the 600 Verizon cellular towers in the state, 180 are in southeastern Michigan.

right because cingular doesnt ever have outages? Every wireless company has outages from time to time and Verizon is no exception.

It was a software glitch, wasn't out for long but MI wasn't the only state affected.

The outage was caused by system failure in the Sueix City IA switching center and its affect was large. nearly the entire state of South Dakota aswell as parts of Iowa were without service for about 2 hours, In addition to that service was out around the Detriot MI and Toledo OH areas.
