Guys,

I got it. I have the 5300 and it's activated. I have it for one hour so far so not much to report yet but alot tonight when I get back.

Keypad feels like the 8300 so far , the screen is small but that is okay.. I can tell you and it really does not mean much but the 1X meter is 1 bar higher in my office than the 8300. Speaker phone so far is decent , more to come.

The earpiece is a concern, on the 8300 we all know it's low but very clear. There is a slight downgrade in earpiece quality but I am not sure yet.

UI allows it to be set to blue and other colors but no Flash. Big deal , at least I have it all rigged with blue..

We all know the bluetooth thing is the problem with the 8300 and this is most important to test. I w...

Hey guys,

It's 12:30 and I have been playing with the 5300 for a few hours.

It's nice.. Let me tell you a little about it and then more hopefully tomorrow.

Form factor - Nice and noticably smaller than the 8300. Not a huge amount but enough. Nice and rounded edges etc..

Keypad is awesome with the Disc controller much larger some how than the 8300 and great feel to it..

Side buttons are positive and very nice.

You can not use the speaker when closed as with most Lg's. No big deal. but would have been nice.

Menus are very fast and just like the 8300, I have everything set to blue and it looks great.
You can also set the round pad direction keys to anything you want like on the 8300. Awesome.

Camera seems quite nice so...

what do you mean by radio? Do you mean you can listen to radio stations on the phone? Does the 8300 offer this? Do any other phones offer this? How is the signal on this phone compared to the 8300? I was leaning towards the 8300 when I get a phone but this may push me towards the 5300.

Could I inquire on the steps VZ/you actually take to test out the phone? Do you just play with it for hours and give little reviews, or is it like hardcore all about the technology and testing the limits of the phone? Do you abuse the crap out of it, like drop it and see if it survives?

When we discuss radio, it's the Cellular Radio, thats what we call it in the industry.

There is no FM radio in the phone.

Sorry for the confusion 🙂
