Verizon's Voice Mail

MattTren

Is it me or is Verizon's Voice Mail system annoying. I mean when I try to call one of my friends it has their message, they usually say leave a message after the beep, then the voice mail service has the woman talking about leaving a message after the beep, then another context says press 5 to leave a call back number. Grr it's annoying, or is it just me? I wish you could set it so you just leave your message then it would go straigh to the beep.

Yes, it is you! I have never heard anything like this about VM, maybe you're annoyed very easily, or is it that you have a pre-paid phone? if it's the later, and you don't want to waste 1 min and then leave a msg, then just a Txt Msg.

i got the standard service, it doesn't really bother me with my own, but with my friends with verizon it does ... after the person leaves their own recording it goes on for about 15 seconds with this crap ... and that usually pushes you onto the second minute.

Did your friend use a personalized greeting or using the automated greeting? it sounds like your friend's settings with the V-mail is the problem if its the automated greeting.

Though I'm the kinda jerk that my VM message is like one minute and 30 seconds just telling people all sorts of stuff of where I can be at 😛

I just was playing with my own V-mail (rember, its insainly long) and I found that if you hit * while the message is playing it will beep at you and you can start recording right away, then hit # when your done recording and hear options you can do with your voice mail to make it standard or important and stuff. I think I'm going to redo my message again to add this info at the beginning of it so my callers will know they can just leave me a message.

I hope that works for you, I know some areas use different VM systems so it may not work everywhere.

This is the most annoying thing!!! Does Verizon think people don't know how to leave voice mail by now. every other carrier you record your own message in case anyone wants to hear you and you can just press 1 and leave your message. Verizon ne...

yah, that is the important part, different parts of the contry use different voice mail systems, I'm in the west area (CA, NV, AZ, NM, MT,UT, CO, WY, ID, OR, WA, and HI)and I think except certain parts of CA, MT, and the 307 area code of WY, they all use the same VM system.

This is an option you can change- simply go into vmail options and change prompt level to 'rapid'

As soon as the person's recording begins to play, press the * (that is the star key) to leave your message and begin recording immediately.
