LG 9800 weak reception
I just got a LG9800 and I like the phone's features however my reception in my town (suburban/rural) is worse than my previous phone (V710).
I was wondering if anyone would have any suggestions or has had these problems of weak reception/dropped calls/and no service at all. When I called Verizon locally they suggested a tri phone?.
Thanks

Well the 710 was one of the best phones for reception we have ever had, the 9800 has 2 things against it, it is a single band (digital), dual mode (1900mhz and 800mhz) vs the tri MODE phone you mentioned earlier. And the second thing against it is the built in antenna vs. the extendable one on your 710.
If your hurting for reception, try the 815 or the 325, but your going to loose some "cool features" that you had on your 9800.
Your either going to have to decide between making a phone call and having limited features, or having a feature packed phone and not being able to make a phone call.
Hope this helps

Not sure if you've already tried this (if you still have the 9800), but I found that when my reception wasn't that great, just holding it so my hand was nowhere near the "intenna" really helped. Though if I needed better reception I probably would have gotten an e815.

2 things,
1) personally i think lg's have very poor reception with an internal and stub antennas
2) you have an internal antenna and when you hold your phone youre probably blocking it, and they(internals) are horrible
look at the e815 it has vcast, and great reception just not as many features as the 9800

alot of people are saying that the 815 is hard to find now...so the Moto v325 is also a good reception phone minus the "cool features"

I had a Lg vx-6000 for almost 2 years, it was a good phone. But I wanted a slightly better phone so I went with E815. E815 kicks a**!I get great reception, voice quality is excellent, and I have NEVER dropped a call with this phone. I thought of up grading to the Samsung 990 when it comes out(I like the idea of the 3.2 meg camera)but it would be hard to give up this phone.

Thanks for the suggestion. I got the E815 today and I the reception is much better. Its a shame that a feature rich phone like the 9800 has difficulty with recieving calls.

yea the E815 is a great phone for reception, but can you charge it? 🤣 we all know the old moto charge ports absolutly SUCK. *fingers crossed to industry wide conversion to mini-usb*
