"Looks like a Verizon field report shows that both the Pantech PN-820 and LG VX9900 handsets will be launched when September 4 rolls around. The clamshell PN-820 runs on the Windows Mobile 5.0 Operating System and fuses both high-end functionality and stylish design. Unfortunately, it lacks EV-DO connectivity, a feature that ought to be compulsory in all smartphones. The LG VX9900 will succeed the VX9800, boasting a thinner, sleeker look and feel. Here's a little trivia - both cellphones were approved by the FCC in May."

You would not happen to have any pics of the phone? I just gave up my 9800 and I would love to own the 9900 if it is truly smaller.

Please clarify. If the PN-820 lacks EVDO connectivity, how does it access data? Does it just use 1X? I can't believe VZW will release a smartphone with 2G technology. Are you sure you don't mean that it can't access V-Cast.

I've been waiting for a Verizon Windows calmshell. I will be very disappointed if this can't get EVDO data speeds. Don't care however if it can't get V-Cast videos.

the report says it lacks EVDO, so all it gets is 1x. I agree, it would be a mistake to put all that money into R&D and put old technology in it. half the regular phones have it, and ALL the pda/smartphones have it. The device would need to be REALLY cheap to have any chance at selling. Hopefully the report is in error or they change it prior to launch.
