I just got my NE2 phone, and was told by the rep that I needed to renew my contract for 2 years as part of the NE2. (I think this isn't true)
Since I have a grandfathered UNL text plan (47309) that was promised to me as long as I am a VZW customer, and the new system drops it with a change of plans, (not renewal) I didn't change to the new AM choice 900 Plan.
Question:
I got this 'get your $10 service credit' cupon, and the way I read it, if I call in, I get a $10 credit and renew my existing plan for another 2 years, but gain NOTHING else.
It seems to me that if I do nothing, I keep my existing plan, renew my NE2, and have no other obligation.
I've been with VZW since it's inception so I'm not going anywhere, but is there any reason t...

You cannot use a NE2 and keep an old plan you must upgrade to current pricing! Also, when you use your NE2 you MUST sign a new 2 year contract! As far as txt packages if you have the Unlimited txt,pix and flix for $5 with a non camera ph. and you upgrade to a camera ph you cannot keep that package you must change to a camera phone package! Hope this helps

Thats almost right, I have been on a single rate plan for as long as it has been available (we need it for a family business) I have used my NE2 every time I have upgraded without a problem. as long as you stay on your plan your grandfathered in with all the perks that come with your plan (like NE2). As for the txt some of the unlimited text only plans had expiration dates. Ex. (Unlim txt until 12/31/05 then 500.
and Beyond is right you can't keep a non-camera package if you upgrade to a camera.

Well, I know that I have my older AMChoice plan, and they indicated that I don't have to change to a current plan, but I would have to renew for 2 years.
My question is about the $10 credit and so forth.
It indiates if I don't call in, I won't get the $10 and I will revert to my 'old' unchanged plan!!!! I'm just trying to figure out what this is all about.

I don't understand this whole $10 thing

Ya dunno about the 10 dollar thing. To upgrade your phone you must move to current pricing plans. Had a lady that was on an old enron plan for 10 bucks a month and she bought a phone full retail just to stay on the 10 bucks a month, otherwise she would've had to move to at least a 34.99 plan. And technically u can have just a txt plan with a picture phone but it would be pointless as txt/pix package cost the same as just txt.

This does sound a little confusing. My suggestion would be to actually call a customer service rep at Verizon and ask them what you will be getting if you use the $10 credit. I talked to a customer several months ago that also received something like that in the mail, I believe they had processed a one year upgrade and if they took advantage of the credit that was offered they would be agreeing to a 2 year contract. I would say call a customer service rep and make sure they explain everything to you about this credit. I work at an indirect store so I am not familiar with the $10 credit. I know I didn't really answer your question, but I hope I helped a little.

Yea, it looks like a way to get you to 'confirm' your acknowledgement of the contract, but actually that's what I did by signing in the store......
