so after my whole situation with the wet phone...I have looked at phones on ebay which is a better phone for reception and battery life. Also does it matter if I have a retractable antenna or a snub? Thank you.

ehh, I tend to like the 4650, as long as you don't need the camera... It's a tank of a phone...
...
True Fact! My hubby had the 4700 (identical phone, just with PTT) and it went through concrete...Literally. It fell off his belt, and landed in the forms they were pouring concrete in. Pulled it out..rinsed it off..and it still worked! Now he's got the 8100...and it's holding up well too.
...
I'll back these guys up, the 4650 is pimp ****!
...
So the phone itself is durable but what about reception...that is the main thing I am concerned about and second being battery life. I never had a problem with my Samsung a670....noone likes this phone?

670 or 650
These phones also have a feature called 'whisper mode' which amplifies your spoken voice so you can talk into the microphone and not talk loudly. This feature also has an 'auto level control' effect that raises your recieved audio level in a headset like high end auto radios so that when road noise increases the volume does too and you can hear people. It raises the level higher than you can manually. "menu 7 7" on the 650.
If you can get hold of a 670 don't let go.
REception is excellent, just not many bars.

I just read that the A670 has alot of problems with the hinge breaking and cracking...and that is why Verizon pulled it from the lineup...true or not?
...
I have seen many many many many hinges break on the 670, not sure if it was a "known issue" or if thats why they pulled it but Ive seen many break.
...
the A310 had lots of hinge issues. The A670 is a good phone. My only dislike of it was the screen being so small....then again, I'm getting old and my eyes ain't what they used to be.
...
So al the newer phones have bigger screens and smaller type

one thing i can tell you about my 670 i have this phone already abour 20 months, it has been a very sturdy fun which went through harsh usage & beating including water a few times & bangs and all sort of stuff (my little kids play with it) and it workd beautiful, its a very sturdy little phone with excellent reception.
...
You said you would recommend the lg 4650....how is the reception with that phone....I did dig my samsung a670 the only thing it was missing was a speakerphone...that is why the 4650 interested me...but above all I need a phone that can make and receive calls....your take on it....thanks
...
Well, the 4650 is a tri-mode so it will work in some places your 670 didnt. I really think that the 4650 is a good phone, I have used them on several occasions and it has never not gotten reception. I sell a lot of them to people who need a good, durable, reliable phone without all the bells and whistles. I have never had a single one come back. It is one of my favorite phones to sell since I know I am putting the person into a good phone, which is pretty much the opposite I feel when I sell somebody a Razr
