well...........i'm not sure how true this is but was told by a motorola rep. it was said that you could hack in to the bluetooth on the e815 and use it as a modem aslong as you had either a v-cast plan or mobile web access. can anyone back this up?
...
This is true but has nothing to do with why the phone was removed from the lineup. The phone is just old. As great a phone as it is, Motorola's new line-up is all RAZR inspired.
...
and like you i work for vzw and i would say the e815 was one of the best motorola has made and to replace it with a p.o.s like the razr. i'm not sure about your store but for every lets say 10 razr we sell 8 come back.
...
they should have lined up a replacement before dicco'ing the 815. Now we only have the 325 and razr to replace it.. plus people come in looking to add another line with a 815 and get mad when we say we dont have it anymore.
...
FYI, today's(Sunday)Circuit City circular has the E815 being advertised. So at least the Circuit City Verizon stores must still have them.
...
probably in other states, getting rid of inventory. AFAIK there is NOT ONE left in the state of MI.
...
AFAIK??????????
Is that "and for anyone interested in knowing"?
Just a guess.
...
AFAIK = As Far As I Know 😉

wouldnt be a bad phone if moto would fix the massive memory leak
...
and like you i work for vzw also and i for one am glad that the e815 is going away. i contend that all moto's are crap. the e815 has the same problem coming back. the charging port (as all motos before them) and some problem where it never turns on again (no power) or imcomplete wakeup. or sometimes the battery itself is just crap. its a shame because the screen is good and the phone itself is nice. moto can not make anything good for vzw. razr = over rated. i tell customers myself sure get a razr if you are that much into looks but the battery is no good and has had problems and people bring them back. solectron techs are tired of moto's too.

I've had my E-815 for a year now, with NO charge port issues. I have NONE of the issues you describe. Maybe I take care of my phone better than some, but maybe people don't realize it's a sensitive piece of electronics and is damaged easily.
BTW, this is my THIRD Moto phone, had the V120c (candy bar), T730 and now the E-815, all use the same charge port and NONE of mine ever had charge port issues. Hell, the T730 did see a few drops to the ground from waist level (defective belt clip) and I still used it for 2 years. Granted, I don't do a lot of texting, but this phone is holding up well. I AM considering a jump to Samsung next upgrade if the 990 is still available in May.

There's really no "hacking" involved. You just buy mobile phone tools (from Verizon, if you wish). It allows a variety of things to be done via bluetooth, including phonebook and calendar syncing, and DUN.
