I am thinking of relocating from NY to NC. How is the coverage in Raleigh and Charlotte NC areas? Thanks.

I think it is ok, but to be honest you should be careful with Verizon, because the mobile to mobile in this area is really shady. Basically Verizon uses Alltels towers here, so it limits there mobile To mobile. I would take your number to Cingular. It is great coverage, as well as True mobile To mobile. Plus you will get alot more minutes, and Rollover. As well as a much better selection on phones.

That makes me wonder. I know that Verizon is the only ones who have Bueys out in the ocean for Seamen(lol). And Eastern NC isnt really Verizon. So do they have coverage off of our coast?

I sense sarcasm, no company has coverage out at sea...yes you might have coverage around the shore from signal coming from inland towers but not that far out...yeah and eastern NC is not verizon wireless service we work in cooperation with another company in the area to make sure the customers do not get charged for roaming though...you are correct though in that area MTM would not apply calls would go to peak or offpeak depending on what timeframe you are in...

How long ago did you have Cingular, and were you TDMA or GSM? These things matter when comparing service.

Hey buddy. You really need to learn how to use some Periods in your sentences, You sound like a 3rd grader. Have you ever heard of a run-on sentence. I am from the Boonies too, but i still remembered to take and English class every now and then. Verizon does get good coverage. i never doubted that. the only time i know that it really was better was when i was at the Rock for a race, and The CDMA's larger call volume paid off because it took me a few times to get my Cingular to go threw. But the Cingular Coverage really works just as well. THe only blank area i know is Down 87 to Wilmington, and NO-ONE gets coverage down 87. But i do know that Cingular is putting towers up there, and it is getting better.

Yeah, they work with Alltel. but i swear i heard one of you Verizon guys say that Verizon has bueys in the water for the high traffic shipping and fishing lanes. I guess that was just a bold faced lie.

Ah, thats alright. Most of you guys are pretty good about telling the truth. But, I do go fishing an awful lot, and i am on a boat enjoying some leisure time about every two weeks. and Verizon does get good coverage off the coast. I have heard Fisherman say that " Verizon Rules the Water way" but who knows, i get good coverage too.

I don't know...I've never been able to get a signal off of ANY network out around the coast. I like to vacation in Outer Banx and god forbid anyone should try and call me while I'm there.

Yeah, But that is the outer banks, I really doubt anyone will ever invest in putting towers in that long stretch. its just not profitable.

Hey! I spend most of my weekends in Raleigh, I'm on ALLTEL, and I can't get a signal that's not roaming. My friends on Verizon never have more than a 3 bar signal, and my girlfriend on Sprint is even worse. I'd recommend Cingular for a lot of the NC area. I'm not sure how the actual coverage is yet, but based on the map it looks pretty damn good. Course we can't guarantee coverage anywhere. 😁
