Does this mean Vodafone won't be shedding US market anytime soon???

that is a very strange question. voda is a parent company. didnt know that they were trying to let verizon wireless go solo. why would they? wouldn't be too smart in my opinion.

Oh yeah, Seidenberg (VZComm CEO) has been itching to buy Vodafone's stakes in VZW for a while now. Less likely to happen now.

Vodaphone’s only interest in their 40% Verizon Wireless stake is the positive steady revenue it generates. Because VZW is CDMA and all Vodaphone networks are GSM, and because VZW is obviously not branded as Vodaphone, VZW does not add value to Vodaphone except as a cash cow.

Like any investor, Vodaphone will sell their VZW stake the minute that they are offered an amount equal to what their perceived value of the investment is. At the present time it seems that Verizon Communications (60% owner of VZW) feels that Vodaphone’s 40% stake is worth maybe 40-45 billion while Vodaphone feels it is worth 55-60 billion.
