My daugher and I just got new phones this week. She got the LG5200 for free but she doesn't like the phone so I am sending it back. We are looking at the LG5300. Any ratings on this phone? I know you can record voice memo with this phone but can you save it as a ringtone. or send it to yourself and save it as a ringtone? I got the 8300 and I can send a text to myself with a song and save it as a ringtone. What about the pic quality on the 5300? The 5200 quality isn't very good. Thanks for your help.

The 5300 is the 5200 except for it has bluetooth. That's the only difference. Camera is the same. Looks are a little different. But they are basically the same phone. Go with the 8300 or the Chocolate if you don't mind spending a little more money.

only 20 bucks more, just get another 8300 if you are concerned.

But this is for a 15 year old. If it were for an adult I would spend the extra money. I want to know if the ringtone feature works on the 5300. Thanks

It is only $20, worth it in my opinion when you will be getting a better camera, better speakerphone, bigger display, as well as being able to play music, expandable memory, and video recording. But if you don't want to spend it then? Not sure if you can send ringtones through mms or not. I don't beleive the 5300 has ringer id, and the memory will be very limited so you will not be able to put many ringers on there even if you can send them through mms, and to top that they will not sound all that great through one little speaker. You may have to purchase bitpim and a data cable on this one. I have not sold any and don't know anyone who has one. So sorry can't help, but in my opinion the $20 is well worth it if the camera and ringtones is yo...

It's locked down, GIN ringers only. âšī¸ Straight from the horse's mouth! bitpim gets around this but you'd need the $18 cable anyway... get the damn 8300... they can't run your bill up any faster with the 8300 than they could the 5300... heh.

Plaird,
My husband just recently got the 8300, and I have several songs on my phone that I am able to send in picture messages that most other phones can use as ringtones. But when I sent one to his phone it put it in a different area of his phone, and I am not sure how to make it so that he could access it as a ringtone. How have you been able to do it? He would be very pleased to be able to use the songs that I have as ringtones. I would appreciate the info, I should know because I work with cell phones, but I am a little stumped on this one. Please let me know. Thanks!

when you open it you save it as ringtone not as a sound. Should say save as ringtone as an option, another option says save sound, if you select that one it saves it in the my sounds folder which cannot be accessed for ringtones, so just reopen the message and save it correctly and you should be good to go.

Ah ha!! I knew it would be something super easy. Thank you for the info!!

Biscuit,
Did you download ringtones? Did it work? Thanks
...
This message is for biscuit. Did you try to send a ringtone to your husband's phone and did it work? THanks

I sent him a pix message with a sound, and his phone did receive it, apparently I just put it into the wrong area of his phone. I haven't had a chance to play with it again and put it into his ringtones. He has a LG8300, so I am not sure about the 5300 accepting sounds from a message for a ring tone. And I don't know anyone that has a LG5300 for me to try it on. I will try to find out if it works the next time we sell a LG5300 to a customer. Hopefully I can get an answer for you today.
If anyone out there has a LG5300 and wants to try it out let me know. Thanks!
