$50 Upgrade Fee

sb1070

Aug 18, 2006, 10:12 PM
I upgraded my phone today and the sales guy charged me a $50 transfer fee. I've never paid that in the past. Is this a new charge?

Does anyone know anything about it?

Did you do an "Early upgrade?"

Was it through a corp store or an indirect?

I bet it was an indirect... Those guys will say anything to make even a small gain on the comission side, I always did stuff like that.

Before you open you mouth know wtf you are talking about. I'm not getting into this argument about indirect vs direct again but seriously, just because this person was overcharged it had to be indirect? Not every indirect is shady like you seem to have been in the past. By the way this person said it was at a direct store so I guess

It was NOT an early upgrade. I went to the corporate store at 114 and carlisle pike outside of Harrisburg, PA

I guess I have to call CS and complain.

PMFJI,
I was entitled to a NE2 and got one. There is a $50 MIR that I am entitled to, so the guy in the store apologised that he needed to charge me the $50 which I'd be refunded, and my cost would still be $0+ tax. I recalled in the past just being given the $0 cost + tax, but I understant that they don't like to do that, I'm guessing because you could cut barcode on the box and someone could get another $50.
So, is what you believe to be a $50 upgrade fee, on a phone that you get a $50 mail in rebate, so your NE2 doesn't get you below -zero- cost?
If so I think it's a wash.

The receipt is where I saw the charge $50 upgrade fee. I'm a legislative employee and entitled to a discount, so the last time I upgraded I did it through our government sales person and there was no upgrade fee. This time I went to corporate retail store.

I only asked this question because I haven't heard of anyone being charged this much for an equipment upgrade. I didn't mean to start a fight between sales reps.

Thanks for responding. I'll contact the government team here in Harrisburg on Monday and try to resolve it that way.
