you know how were all supposed to do it every month and b4 traveling, i just did it and then i rmeber im going away next week, if i do it again next week could this "hurt" my phone in any way?
the reason why im asking is beacuse when i would update my sch-a670 it seemed like everytime after i updated i would go from full bars, then work my way down to no bars, and then go back to full again, and it would do this every time i turned on the phone.
thanks!!!

No it will not hurt your phone, if it already has the most current software and you download it again it wont hurt it.

the only time ive ever seen it hurt a phone is when the person hung up halfway through the PRL download. They had to come in for a computer pushed PRL upload

If you have the Pantech 215 or the LG9800, then for the MOMENT it can hurt your phone. For some reason, it will erase something in the software that is needed and then you have to bring it into the store to be flashed. Sorry that I don't have the specifics, but that is the only glitch (and it is temporary while that bug is worked out).

Lol, forgot about that. If he has the 215 then he has other problems to worry about too 🤣

it seems *228 does some type of function on cdma phones, prl i believe, i used to have a cdma phone under sprint and i never did that at all, could that be the cause of my phone not working well as far as dropping calls, signal, or software problems,
what exactly does *228 does, and why should people dial that on their phones every month, hopefully i didnt sound like an idiot, but i seriously do not know about *228, btw my phone that i had under sprint was samsung, im not sure of the model # i know its been discontinued tho. and i know its a verizon forum but my question mostly deals w/ *228

This updates your PRL (preferred roaming list). IN short, it makes sure you continue to get good reception on your phone.
I'm no expert on Sprint, but do know that in times past you would have to take your phone into one of their stores to have your software upgraded in order to maintain a good signal reception. I don't know if this is still true or not. I live in the KC area, and have a relative who works for Sprint. The last time I spoke with them about this issue was probably over a year ago. In our area, even thought it's their home base, Sprint ...
