I'm going to a V store to buy one of these two phones (Sam. a930 or LG 8300) I REALLY need to help deciding. After side by side comparisons on the web in holding both phones, I'm still even on both. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!! Thanks in advance.

Why is the 8300 better?

The 8300 is cheaper right not on a 2yr agreement amongst other reasons:

-Flash UI (gota love th pulse display theme)
-Customize all 4 shortrcut buttons to your choice (not like Samsung where you can only change the down button)
-Plays MP3 normally with update v.2 (not through a secret menu)
-Outside color display
-Stereo speakers
-Probably supported better by VZW in the future (most Samsungs don't get great support - ie a970 and a950)
-Easy to lock out evdo to get better battery life

Hey even though it was not a big deal enabling mp3s through the secret menu since you only have to do it once, I wanna know where I can get the update?? over the air?

The stores as of now (at least in (Brooklyn, NY) don't have the updates. I would give it another month or two until the stores possibly get it.

If you go howardforums.com however, and do a little searching, you can do the update yourself if you get the cable, drivers, and program(s) to do it. I hear it takes about 15-20 minutes to do the flash based on how much stuff is on your phone's memory.

I consider to be brave when it comes to phone and doing stuff to them, but I'm just going to wait to get the phone flashed at a store. If I mess up the phone, I'm screwed. VZW messes it up, I get a new phone. LOL

whatever you do...DO NOT...repeat DO NOT chat with a representative online. It was worse than getting teeth pulled! He wouldn't answer my questions directly and must have had a few other chats going on and forgetting what my questions were. I realize that they aren't going to select a phone for me but the least they can do is give you factual data on the phones. I trust what i read in the forums more than I trust what that guy told me. Good luck with finding the right phone for you 🙂

That would be a bad ass job to have, just sit at a desk, eat doritos, drink a few beers, and chat with people online about cell phones........ Hey, that is what I do now, except i am not getting paid 😳

Isn't there some scale that the techs use to measure reception? Which of these two phones have the best reception?
