Depending on the company it can change every year. That's the case for the company I work for.

We have a little bit of a different calendr for fiscal purposes. Our months usually start a the weeek prior to the end of a calendar month. Every X number of years we have a 53 week fiscal year to make up for differences.

Aside from that companies are not required to have their fiscal calendar the same as the calendar year. I forget which company it is, but I know there's a well known company out there that has year end in June or July, due to the cycles and nature of their business.

Better to ask than to assume because you could be wrong.

That's nice that your company plans their budget a little different, but publicly traded companies report their numbers to the SEC on a quarterly basis.

In order to compare apples to apples the time frame would need to be uniform.
