Is there a way I can get a Q or palm without getting a data plan?
I just want a Q or Palm so I don't have to carry a phone and my palm pilot around.
I have no need to check email or such. I just want a light load.
Thank you!

You can either do the pay as you go plan which is 1.5 cents per KB or you can block Net Access altogether, but doing so also prevents you from sending pix msgs.

is this a good way to go?
NetAccess blocks sending px msgs. Does it block txt too?
Thanks!
...
No. It doesn't block text messaging.

excellent. i may get my hands on a Q afterall.
how do i convince the sales people at verizon not to sale me a data plan?
...
You don't need to convince them. You will walk in as an educated consumer. You may request the have the national access block put in in place of a data plan. If they do not know how (which they may not. Honestly, they aren't dumb or anything, just not a situation they may deal with all that often) call customer service after activation and ask that they place the national access block on.

You're also going to pay about $519 for your Q since you're not putting it on a data plan...
...
$519.99 is full retail price (or close to it at least). If your elgible for upgrade or a new customer the Q is 299.99 or 199.99 with NE2. You do NOT need to put a data plan on to get promo pricing. Regardless of what other people tell you.

hahaha, ok, I pity the guy who sells it that way... I'd rather not have the $300 difference pulled from my paycheque for doing that. 🙂
The memo came down from on high. DO NOT SELL WITHOUT VOICE AND DATA PLANS, WE WILL CHARGEBACK COMMISSION TO YOUR PAYCHEQUES!!! And I'm not gonna tempt the wrath of Bob on that one...
...
Nopegs I have to agree with that! I got the same memo! Oh yea Larry got fired! 🤣
...
fired, or quit? It was kinda hard to tell...
...
o_O
I can get the Q for $200 w/o data... (NE2)
...
Can I buy the q without a data plan....then get the mobile web for only about $5 or $10 a month for internet access?
...
You can place a 5.00 plan on your account but the phone will have to be activated with something, even if it is just pay as you go for 1 1/2 cents per kilobyte. The 5.00 plan is useless on a PDA because you do not need access to the mobile web. Then you will waste your money on the plan and you will still bill per kilobyte. There is no way to avoid it. If you want to use the web, you must pay to do so.

You can get a mb plan...
