Just switched from T-Mobile. . . now getting TERRIBLE reception!

I just switched from T-Mobile to Verizon, largely because there were too many holes in T-Mobile's service. I'm in Los Angeles, and Verizon was the most highly rated service.

I bought a new LG VX-7000 phone, but the reception is terrible. I don't have any reception at all at my house, even in areas where T-Mobile worked fine. About 80% of my calls are dropped after the first minute. The phone often shows 3 or 4 bars of service, makes a call, then cuts out completely with no warning, even if I stand perfectly still in exactly the same spot.

What gives? I have to decide by tomorrow if I'm canceling this service or I face penalties. Help!!

Any suggestions on alternate carriers? I was trying to stick with AT&T or Verizon, because I'm about to start working at a rural farm in Hidden Valley and everyone who works there now says that only those two carriers have reception out there.

How long did you have T-Mobile's service for initially? I had it for almost 2 years with my Motorola v60g and found that the phone was going bad and so that's what caused my bad service issues in the early going. When I upgraded the phone everything got better! I upgraded to the Samsung X105 by the way.

My suggestion: get one their uptodate phones and perhaps things will get better. Cell service isn't perfect everywhere with ever ...

Well if anything I would have you call in to Customer Care for tech support or go back into the store where you bought it...that most certainly is not what should be happening in the LA area....now you do have that 15 WFG return policy so if you think you might be able to do better with a different phone you might want to try that out as well...hope this helps

If AT&T is on your list, may as well go with the soon to be new owners, Cingular. T-Mobile's network out there runs on Cingular's 1900 MHz band. Cingular operates both 850 and 1900, so coverage will be equal or better. We should be integrating the ATTWS network, barring any complications, by the first of the year.

If there are specific citites or areas you would like to check for service, let me know.

Are you even capable of being fair and even-handed in your posts? I'm sure Cingular NEVER has EVER sold a defective phone. This is why they will replace it. In any type of consumer electronics, there is going to be the occasional lemon. That's not Verizon's fault, and it's not LG's fault. It's the fault of automated mass production. Next time take a deep breath and count to ten before you post, okay? I'm embarrassed for you once again.

This guy has one day to make that call! I would not trust a two year commitment on the probilty of a bad phone. Sorry. Im funny that way.

Actually, he only has to worry about the 14 day deadline if there ISN'T something wrong with the phone and it really is the service. The warranty on the phone is good for at least a year, and longer if he bought the extended warranty.

So if thats the case did you only go with a 1 year service agreement with Cingular? Cause even 365 days is a pretty big step if there is a problem witht the that does not present itself right away...

You act like we don't have a return period where the customer can drop it all too. Ours is 15 days. Geez pal, that one was a stretch...lol

No I wasn't saying anything about the return policy...I was just inquiring about Froggy's service agreement, I mean he's suggesting that signing a 2 years is a bad idea, but he would have had to've signed a service agreement with Cingular in order to get the service so I was just wondering what kind of service agreement he signed...judging by his comment only a 1 year...and even with that there is a possibility that the phone would go bad afte rthe return policy...only good thing is that if it's a man defect it would be covered

No as usual you don't understand. the guy said he had one day left on his return guarentee. He siad he did not like the reception. someone here said it is most likely the phone. Well I said he should cancel becasue after today it's not going to matter. If he got a new phone and STILL had issues he is stuck for 2 years. I only said i would not take the chance of it being a phone with only one day left to aviod the ETF.

Does this mean since you don't trust a 2 year commitment that you only signed a 1 year with Cingular...that was the original question...no need to get all up in arms...

And I also corrected your spelling for ya King 😁

No I signed atwo year contract > I DID my homework I pointed out that because I did my homework i was not afraid of the commitment. I even said if you remember if every prospective customer did the homework, there would be less calls to CSRs.

I made the right choice. I have no issues. I took back a V600 and got the T637 though. no issue there. No issue now.. I would cancel if I had one day left and had issues like the poster who had one day to decide IF it was the phone. Thats all.

I'd return that phone ASAP. Could be the phone. Could be just bad service in your area.
If you can try another phone model on a trial basis, I'd do that. I can't believe Verizon would be so bad. I was out visiting in LA last year, and I had no trouble anywhere, even in the hotel.
I guess this is why they give you these 15 day trial periods---they know they can't be the best everywhere. Thank goodness they do give you these trial periods!
