Customers porting from TDMA Cingular

Have you guys seen a large number of ticked off ATT/Cingular TDMA customers porting over because of the $5 a month they are getting charged from Cingular? I have seen a large amount of them, granted they are older people who are ticked becasue they feel they are being cheated becase "there is nothign wrong" with their Ericcson 1228 or nokia 5160 phone so "why should they have to switch?".

Just wanted to send a "shout out" to Cingular for the acts!

yea all five of em 🤣

generally the old heads are ticked because some rep didn't explain why the are being billed and one you throw in the facts that
1) we have a 29.99 plan for them on the new network
2) the "insert carrier name here" down the roads entry plan is 39.99 most of the stay.

but i agree there are those that still leave because their Ericcson 1228 🤣 LMAO, Nokia 5160 🤣 LMAO, and Moto v60's 🤣 are "great" (in their eyes) and "they just learned how to use it" 🙄

but alot understand and migrate and customer care has been great with giving special offers to these customers.

a couple of the guys at the vzw agent upstairs say they get about 10 of these customers a month.

Yeah, the customer today that switched from the 1228 got confused when I told her that her new phone answered by just opening it up, then to hang it up all you needed to do was close it.

She came back in while ago and said that anytime she answeres it there is nobody there, so I called the phone and it worked fine, so I had her try it in the store, she was opening it then hitting the Send key, so it was flashing over to the 3rd line.

Gotta love the Geriatrics!

data take rate= dtr

bro you can have every one of those people they kill sales numbers they likely don't want data, accessories, and are going on the lowest price plan. Then they tend to lock on to you and don't understand why you can't spend an hour every other day with them going over how to use thier phone.

Don't get me wrong I like to take extra good care of my customers, but the 3rd time I go over how to check your voicemail when I have added the speed dial shortcut and all you have to do is press and hold 2 I'm gonna refer you to the customer service number.

Haha, why is it that voicemail is like brain surgery to old people.

I tried explaining it today to a customer and they just had a blank stare on their face.

I said "it is like an answering machine that will let your callers leave a message when your unavailable or your phone is turned off" they just stared like I had a horn growing out of my head, I said "have you ever used an answering machine before?" they said "no", So I said "ok, dont even worry about it in that case, Ill take it off your account so your phone will just ring and ring and ring until you answer it" They said "great!"

I get a couple of these a month. But I have been getting between 10 and 30 Ex Cingy customers a month from the "thanks for your business, but you have 30 days to find a different carrier" letter, otherwise known in these parts as the "Nasty Gram". USCC sent out a notice for a free phone and didn't make them change their plan to get massive numbers of TDMA custies to switch to CDMA technology. So I understand about dealing with older folks who "just learned how to work" their phone.
I made one old lady cry when I told her that even if she didn't like her new phone, I could never put a TDMA phone back online.

As an employee who has to deal with these TDMA/Analog customers: Please take every single one that you can get! We don't want them! All they do is take up massive amounts of my time when we are over 100 callers in queue and then get confused at the most simple of explainations about ANYTHING, then say they will call back later to complain (great, another useless call you are going to make that hurts my conversion).
