RAZR email via brew app & QNC?

I'm looking for a new phone, and considering Verizon / RAZR / Brew email app / QNC

Can I use QNC to connect a RAZR brew-based email application to the internet and check my own IMAP servers? (no data plan)

1. I'm still using my V60i, which I can still attach to my laptop via USB and dialup to QNC. All TCP ports are accessible, albiet very slow (14.4 Kbs).

2. BUT when V60 is attached to my Sony CLIE (running snapper mail, etc), internet stopped working. (I've tried very hard to fix but I think it's a CLIE software corruption; CLIE on laptop via SoftickPPP also broken)

3. Time to choose new phone & go with either Verizon or Cingular (I hear Cingular allows use of bluetooth to connect to laptop etc, whereas Verizon dumbs down many f...

QNC is no longer supported nor available. It ties up a channel for the duration. All data calls are packet-switched just like GIN downloads and mobile-web...

So you're saying that although QNC still works on my old V60, it isn't available on new phones?

In other words -- question about phone-based apps aside -- new phones can't act as a modem using QNC when tethered to another device? Are you sure

correct... trying to "qnc" results in a packet switched connection billable per kb if you do not have a data plan...

correct QNC is a no longer supported feature.
You will be able to tether any EVDO handset to a laptop using BroadbandAccess Connect for 59.99 a month unlimited. this is the same as an aircard without the aircard/contract.
