Early Termination Fee question

Just in a dispute on the Cingular forum. Does Verizon waive the ETF if you move into an area where they offer absolutely NO coverage, not even roaming. And I don't mean that when you look it up on a map, it shows coverage, but the cust reports no signal, but someplace where you don't even sell Verizon b/c there are NO towers that can be used at all.

yes vzw waives these fees under this circumstance. 1. you have moved outside of the vzw coverage are (meaning anywhere we dont have a license to sell service. this includes all areas we consider extended network) and you must send in proof of residency, not your cell phone bill but a drivers license or standard utlity bill. Hope this clears things up..

Thanks. So, either Cingular is the only one that doesn't waive it, or they're the only ones who don't know that they do.

I thought legally this had to be waived per some the FCC guidelines... if a carry cannot provide you with service... it's a breach of contract.

On the flip side, if you move into an extended network area, will VZW let you keep service?

yes, we will waive them extended network is an area that we have no legal right to "sell" service in. we can't hold cust to an agreement bc we can't guarantee service. for the most. I'd say 90% of cust have no issues in these areas though. hope that helps.
