Yup, used Super C to convert he movies, but first I compressed the mp3s to make them smaller, showing 386176kb used and 605824kb still available for use in the memory.

I just went to google and typed in somethign to the effect of "mp3 compressor" and downloaded a free trial of a program, not sure how small my mp3s are off the top of my head but at the time I had a 512 card and had about 350 songs on it and it was full once I compressed them I was able to get close to 500 on it

Get your phone's software flashed to T83VZV03 and it'll accept a 2GB microSD card. The older software can't. Can't confirm if it will enable exterior viewing of TXT messages, though.

What happens if I insert the 2gb card w/out flashing my phone first?? will I ruin the card to later use all 2gbs??

No. The phone just won't detect the card.

Oh... cant I just get the update OTA?? Do I really have to go into a store dude?

Over the air "OTA" just downloads the newest PRL's (preferd roaming list) your looking for an actual software update, which it needs to be hooked up to the computer for this.

Not with Verizon, OTA is a carrier thing not a manufacturer thing

Currently the only two devices that can use the 2Gig MicroSD card are the Chocolate and the Q.

all others have a 1GB limit at this time.

do you work for VZW or a dealer???

It's a real version. I don't know why he would think it's fake. Its the exact same naming convention LG uses on all their software versions. Go to Menu > Settings and Tools > System > Device Info > SW Version and see for yourself. You probably have T83VZV01 as yours.

And yes, internal documentation, which I'm reading right now, says that the new version of the software will enable the phone to read 2GB microSD cards.

Iv heard that the flash includes mp3 playback by default so you shouldnt need to enable it. I have not tested this however.

It's tested. V03 of the handset software adds VCAST Music 1.2 which plays both WMA and MP3 files at the same time exactly like on the LG VX8500.

Ok I overreacted at first... it now plays mp3 by default and makes this phone even greater...you no longer have to enable mp3 playback...
