This has happened to me several times before and just happened to me again, I wanted to get your thought those of you who are in the biz....

A Very nice elderly lady (70ish) comes in the about a week ago, who has never had a cell phone in her life.

Her daughter (in another state), jsut got a Chocolate and has convinced her mom that shee really need a cell phone too, for safety (which I completely understand).

Heres the kicker, the mother is set that she needs a Chocolate too because her daughter keeps telling her she does, becaseu it is such a great phone 🙄.

She is only going to be using it in emergency situations and once a blue moon when her daughter calls.

I try to explain to her that she can get a free phone (lg 33...

I hate to say it but I'd sell her what she wants. I might try to explain the differences to her and let her know she really doesn't need it. If she wants it I'll sell it to her though. I would never risk loosing a sale. If someone wants a phone I don't really care why. lol

The only thing your guilty of is having a conscience.

YOU want to do the right thing,
VERIZON wants you to make money.

wfine,

Just wait when the lady comes back into the store within her 14 days and says that she just can't figure out how to use the phone. And wants you to return it for her. That is the hard part. You did exactly what you were supposed to do. Some customers, unfortunately, are that way and there is nothing that you can do about it. I would just shrug it off and move to the next one..

There is a point in the conversation where you realise she wants this phone, for good or bad. At that point you've done your job, she doesn't want to take you advise thats her problem. Sell the phone. She has 15 days to figure it out.

You should of closed her while she was there. I don't think this has anything to do with her wanting too much of a phone, anytime you let a customer walk out, there's always a chance they will shop around a buy somewhere else.

Instead of just explaining that the basic phone would be better suited for her, I would of have demo'd the chocolate and the buttons, then show how much easier a 3300 is to use, program a speed dial in for her, etc. If she still wants a chocolate, then its time to start pushing accessories, lol.
