Loyal Customers?

schnozejt

Is there such thing as a loyal customer anymore? I have not met one loyal customer, one who will stick w/ us through thick and thin. You'll give an arm, then your leg, then your other arm and leg, and the customer will still leave you over a fancy gadget on a phone for example. If I was a customer for 5 or more years w/ a carrier, I won't switch because of a fancy gadget or because of cheaper price plans.

Schnoz has a good point.

You never do see any "loyal" customers. What is a loyal customer anyways?

They pay their bill on time?
The complete their 2 year agreement then go somewhere else?

"Loyal" my arse. You aren't loyal. You Mr and Ms customer are just paying your monthly charge to avoid late fees. Heck I'm just as guilty myself.

I know! I got a great idea! VZW should track the wireless rewards program. For example if Joe Q. Public brings us in 15-20 customers a year then he should get a free phone of their choice or something like a free month.

Makes sense doesn't it?

Had to chime in regarding loyalty.

I used to hear that term bantered around by employees of companies being laid off. "i was a loyal employee for 20 years" No you weren't. You would have left for more money better benefits, perks or whatever to another company anytime during that period. You stayed because it was BEnIFICIAL...not out of loyalty. The company now feels its is to their benefit to save some bottom line and they paid you up to all work and hours done and even in many cases give you MORE.

People do not realize loyalty does not exsist except in emotional relationships. Wives, husbands, boyfriends, friends, dogs. It is an emotional description that has no place in business. Because in business as an employee and a customer or v...

Except for the anti-VZW banter there at the end, I hate to say it but I agree with you Kingfrog..there is no such thing as loyalty...it's "give me the best, and as long as it stays the best, I'll stay with you, if not bye bye"

I do agree as well with this. Also, Verizon as a company does know that a customer's loyalty is controlled by the customer's $, thats why it has so many programs to encourage customers to stay rather then leave.... Or did you not read my other post Frogster?

We too have a referral program. But the referral program only goes so far($250 limit). The fox was stating to having a bigger or more in depth referral program. I think the reason we don't have a larger referral program because customer's aren't loyal. They'll take all the money they can, get free phones, have two lines- upgrade one line-then activate the esn on the other line so they can always keep one line eligible. Customer's will work the system, and when the system bites back they complain and go to another carrier.

There is also long term loyalty programs too that are sent out to customers that have been with verizon for a couple years or meet certain criteria. Such as customers on a phone that is so old that our system cannot identify it (such as almost all analog phones) our CMO department (campaign and marketing operations) send them out a post card saying, upgrade your phone with a 1yr contract and you get a free phone! just call in to this special number and give this special code" or get additional credits up to $80 off a purchase if you meet the right criteria, again you'll be sent a post card that tells you special instructions on how to get it, you just can't call in to get them. There are many many more offers sent out to customers that actua...

I have been with Verizon for 5 years and have the same phone MOTO Startac, Many times the store reps ask me to upgrade and I responded that I have so many accessories that it would cost me too much to replace them (multiple batteries, chargers etc.) If the would have offered some credit toward the accessories than I would have gone for it.

I even stayed with Verizon for one year that my new residence could not get a signal. This was also when I struggled to learn if and when a close tower would be erected.

Of course over the years I have had some billing problems ans a period where every day I was calling in for air time credit (they took care of me but I hated taking the time to call in and that I would have to place four calls t...

Remember that the $250 limit is per year. Not to shabby in my opinion. A potential $600 every two years, $250 in referal credits each year and then a new every two credit on top of it. I am not sure that any other carrier is pffering that much free money.

you know, what everyone has to say here has been pretty decent. I have to say, I stumbled across this site a while back when I was checking out the new Kyocera Koi and the Nokia Bluetooth phone coming later this year. It's cool to find a neat little hang out where we can chit - chat about VZ. I for one, would be loyal to VZ simply because you know that when the Cingulator comes together later on this year Verizon is going to unleash all kinds of things to continue to be number one. Of course confidentiality is a *%*% when I know something others don't but We've got it covered as far as competing with the Blue Striped Taco Stand and the Dreamsicle Express.

You all make some very good points. As a VZW customer, I look at quality of service (I never miss a call), quality of customer service (I always get right through, and the reps are exceptional), and value (VZW's prices are a little higher, but the quality is better). I certainly will remember how well I was treated by VZW when my contract comes up for renewal, so in this sense, VZW is definitely building loyalty with THIS customer.
