This has been bugging me for a while...

I have a simple question. But first, I'm not trying to start a flame war, an argument, or insult anyone.

Why is it that when any new phone comes out, inevitably someone goes to that phone's forum and asks if that phone will be coming to Verizon? Even phones that are described as GSM only have that question asked about them.

Do the phone manufacturers make different models of the GMS only phones for CDMA carriers very often, if at all?

I'm just curious because if thats the case, then why don't we ever see this happening?

If thats not the case, then why can't these people that ask this question just read the description, or just settle for the phones that Verizon offers.

Anyway, that was bugging me and I just was wondering...

your average schmo doesn't know the difference between a CDMA carrier and a GSM carrier. That could certainly be one reason. Again, sometimes you do see something that goes across carriers, like the Moto v60, so it's a reasonable question. But in the time that I've been around here it seems more and more likely that a carrier and a manufacturer get into business with each other and the phone that's produced stays pretty true to the technology it was produced for. It doesn't seem very common for both a CDMA and a GSM version to be made of many phones, but that's just the way it looks from my point of view.

I could be wrong.

Remember the Motorola "POS" T720, it was released pretty much by every carrier out there, it had a GSM version and a CDMA version. At the moment I can't think of any other model at the moment. But as you can see, some phones are released for both technologies!
