Is Verizon the only carrier that charges airtime for pix messaging?

VZW does not charge AirTime for Pix Msgs. Sprint actually raised the price of text msgs from .10 to .15 cents just a month ago. WTG SPRINT!!! 😲 🤤 🙂 😁 🤣

Um... unless they have the VCAST feature which gives unlimited data, yes, pix messages do charge airtime while uploading and downloading the pix msg to/from the network respectively.

With any PDA phones you will get charged data for receiving and sending pix, the VCAST feature is not for a PDA so it just uses your minutes when sending and receiving.

Makes sense?

I was told you can't use data and converse simultaniously with VZW devices. Is this true with all devices, only non PDA devices, or just totally bunk?

I know you can not be talking on the phone and send/receive pictures or flix at the same time. You can receive or send text messages while talking on phone.

TXT messages don't use the data network. They use the voice network.

Now that I think of it yes they do. I learned that if you have a MotQ for example, they do charge airtime when a text message is sent.

He said text message. I think he meant PIX message. Don't you pay per PIX no matter what your plan, data or voice?

I do realize that you can transmit image files with a data plan, but the OP said "PIX messaging".

You would not be charged airtime then for a pix message on a Moto Q. Either way, the guy I replied to was wrong...

Yeah, guess I forgot I work in tech support for Verizon. Text messages NEVER use airtime, on ANY phone.

You are correct. Verizon charges airtime for the connection to the network. But seriously, unless you are sending an ungodly amount of pix each month, who would notice it?! I have a 3rd shareline on my account that RARELY ever gets used, but last month I used it to transfer some pix. It hadn't been used in 3 months, and I sent 28 pix, and had 30 mins of airtime usage on it, but never made a single phone call....pix costs mins
