I ask you why is verizon's network so damn good! We all know verizon has the most reliable service in the industry but why?

This post is not to bash other carriers only to discuss why verizon network is so strong.

Alltel is a way better partner than Cell One Dobson and the handful of GSM Roaming partners Cingular has to deal with

Also, CDMA seems to do a better job with weak signal.

US Cellular seems to be great roaming partner for Verizon too. I had to roam on their network just recently, and it worked really well.

I wonder if Alltell and US Cellular would ever consider merging? They'd be almost as big as T-Mobile if they did.

Instead, Alltel merges with Western Wireless. I still don't really understand what that was about.

because of all the 800mhz cellular towers. they get better penetration into buildings then the pcs ones which results in better signal in most areas and fewer dropped calls/issues.

Do you know if when they put up new towers if they run off 1900mhz? or will they ever convert their 800mhz to 1900 or will it always remain this way. Any ideas

I dont see why we should convert the towers we have a good mix. the 1900 is better for outdoors use and the 800 is better when people are indoors. having a mix of the two is the reason that verizon wireless has the nations best network.

1900 = good for data
800 = good for voice

You get what you pay for when it comes to their network. And they force off-network phone features, like file movement and GPS, onto their subscriber network for more fees.
