v710 question

thinkbowl

Aug 16, 2004, 12:42 PM
i just purchased the v710 and am trying to figure out its mp3 capabilites and limitations.

I tried emailing a song to myself in mp3 as well as in midi, and both times when trying to save the file it says they are not recognizable (even when i open the email, it does not play).

My question therefore is: if i get the transflash card, upload w/a few mp3s (or midi's) will i be able to set one of those songs as my ringer?

thanks

if you got that from a Verizon retail store they should be able to be transferred via Bluetooth. If not you can wait for the firmware update in a couple of weeks, take your phone into a Verizon corporate store and have them flash the new firmware onto the phone. Back up your memory somewhere in either data or written form before having a phone flashed however, because the flashing process will take your phonebook, wallpaper, etc. back to out of the box defaults.....which means you'll lose everything you've programmed in.

Does anyone else find the V710 to be a bit bulky?

I haven't gotten a chance to play with it yet, but just lookin at it in Rat Shack's sealed display cases it looks like it's on the size order of the v600, which I always thought was a little large. It does look a little big and heavy, but I guess that's the price you pay for lots of features and a big display.
