I think you will have a good shot at getting a discounted price. Verizon usually drops their price, a bit, on previous models.

you can set up e-mail sync with the 9800. However, if you are really wanting a device for e-mail, I would go PDA. The web is 2.0

the email on it is very basic. its primarily a texting phone. i own it and i use it to check email every once in a while. browser is faster than other phones but nothing compared to a smart phone. by the way the 9900 has a dedicated email button on it (we got the dummy in a few days ago) so it might be somewhat more aimed at email users. hope this helps
