NE2 and 1 year contract

2 years ago, I signed up with Verizon on a one year contract. I've been very satisified to date. When I bought the phone at RS, I was told about the NE2 program. I called Verizon today (on another matter) and was shocked to find out that the rep failed to tell me that I needed a 2 year contract in order to get the $100 rebate. Since I've been a customer for two years now and will probably sign on to another contract, is there anyway I can get the $100 off? I've been looking forward to this rebate for a long, long time (I still am using the same phone from two years ago). I live in the Northern Virginia area, if that helps. Thanks for any info you can provide.

Wow, Radio Smack screws another customer, what a surprise. That was your only mistake. Try calling customer service, you might find a world-weary CSR who will take pity on you & give you the hook-up. Sometimes you have to try 3 or 4 times, or get a supervisor to get it. You might not be able to get $100, but you'll probably come close.

Next time, buy your fuses at Radio Smack, and buy your cellular phones from a real professional...

Bow wow...why would you tell a customer to call in several times??? If you are a sales rep you need to get in touch with your manager and learn a little something about Call Reduction!

Hey easy there anxio... I have almost no customer call-ins... they deal with me nearly every time, because I tell them to. My number goes in their phone at activation.

Not the norm, but it should be.

I thought the 4010 was discontinued, I guess they phased it out from post-pay, and it went pre-paid. Am I right?

Please, spare me. What I meant was, if you can't get what you want (and probably deserve, in this particular case), try another rep. Or ask for a supervisor. You can't tell me that it never, ever happens. Yes, 1st Call Resolution is wonderful, so much better than when I sold Spreenk, and you had to play "Guess Which Continent" with the phone reps. USUALLY you can get what you want with the first rep you get. That's what I love about our beloved employer. SOMETIMES you cannot, and it helps if you try another rep - sometimes you'll find somebody who'll bend the rules to make a customer happy without costing VZW money.

It does the customer no good because care reps are supposed to NOTE the account whether it be in your I2K comments screen or through TICKLR. Heck, get a supervisor and that's a sure fire way of guaranteeing the account gets noted on the situation.

Lessons learned from this exchange:

1) Don't buy a VZW cell phone from RS (which I won't). I actually did go back there less than a month ago. And three sales people couldn't find the LG 7000! The last one said he never even heard of it. I'll be purchasing straight from the source this time.

2) If the next VZW care center rep tells me that he/she can't resolve this issue, I'll ask to speak to the supervisor.

Thanks for your input!

You sound so very reasonable about this. Your advice is great advice for all of us. (I don't work for VZW or RS.) Over the years, I've bought a Sprint phone from RS, and learned my lesson. I always buy my phones directly from VZW or their website.

I've had good experience with buying on the website, esp. with the Family Share phones that aren't eligible for NE2. The give you great prices on the phones for signing a new 1 or 2 yr contract, and give you an instant discount instead of making you send in for a rebate.

Sprint is a mail in rebate at corporate stores and RS for upgrades. RS is new cust pricing for upgrades not mail in rebate, but dont have the ability to do NE2. But most of the phones are cheaper anyway. Such as Aud 8600 19.99 vs VZW at 129-50 mir etc..
