Wireless Sync Questions

I feel a little silly asking these questions as my son use to have a Treo 700p and now has the Motorola Q, but he couldn't answer this for me.

1) If you use VZW's Wireless Sync, Is there a way to upload an address book (phone numbers and names) versus having to input everything manually?

2) I use BackUp Assistant, if you only use the Q as a phone and text device and not for internet, is there a way to use BackUp Assistant with this device? I LOVE BackUp Assistant!

3) I know that the battery life on the Q and the P is really poor, but was wondering how they would be if there was NO internet or email connection?

1.With wireless sync on any of the pda phones wireless sync will backup your address book on the wireless sync website.

2. backup assitant is not available on the Q. This app is only available on Get It Now enabled phones. (basically non PDA'S)

3. It would be alot better because wireless sync is set for every 15 min to connect to the server.

Hope this helps

Thanks! My primary concern is the potential upload (if I go to one of these) of my 350 contacts.

I just read in another forum about Missing Sync software for MAC and Windows Mobile. This may be a good option for me.

Thanks again, Scott

Unless you absolutely need Outlook sync I wouldnt recommend a PDA phone. PDA phones' main selling point (and what they are most useful for ) is internet and email.

Thanks, and I do concur with you. My two issues are-

1. I would really prefer a bar type phone. Supposedly Nokia (PanTech) has one coming soon, which may do the trick. MUST have BT.

2. Seems like I am sending more and more text messages. I would prefer a full keyboard like on my Blackberry. I could use my Blackberry to send the text messages, but most of them are to VZW users so my Blackberry (tmobile) would cost them and me money.

I thought about getting a VZW bberry (8700 series) and a tmobile phone, but compared to tmobile, they are very expensive.

Do you need a Blackberry or just need a phone with a full computer style keyboard? If you dont need the BB then I would say get the LG 9800. Right now its $130.

Actually I carry a Blackberry (tMobile) and a conventional cell (LG VX-8300) with Verizon.

I never forsee the day that I would NOT carry two devices and use two different carriers.

I looked at the 9800 and even though I was not bowled over (due to size), $130 is very enticing! I am not eligible for any upgrades at this time, can I still buy it for $130? If so, where?

Thanks, Scott
